The Galaxy Police

Before TM: GXP came out, I have thought that the Galaxy Police was mainly the Justice and Law Enforcement Unit for the Galactic Union.  After GXP came out, it turns out that the Galaxy Police is likely a glorified Postal Service.   Mikami had stated that  most of the Galaxy Police recieves most of it revenue from its Postal Service Dept.  The majority of the Galaxy Police personnel are in the delivery of mail and cargo.  While the Galaxy Police services as the Postal Service of the Galactic Union, it does have other departments.  The other departments of the G.P. are the Adminstrative,  Justice and Law Enforcement, Communications,  Science and Research, Special Operations, and the Galaxy Army.

The Galaxy Police is supposed to be like Earth's Interpol organization.  Its Galaxy Postal Service does make a lot of sense. It is an important branch of the G.P.  The most important G.P.  department is still the Justice and Law Enforcement Dept.  Amane , Kiriko  and Mihoshi work for this Department.  Kiriko had seem to earn the rank of Inspector while Mihoshi and Amane serve as Second Class Detectives for the moment.  Despite of being a cadet, Seina had earn the rank of Captain.  After his graduation, Seina became the Captain of the Kamidake 2 a second time.  Kiriko's rank of Inspector seems to be on the same level of Captain.

Seina and his crew are members of the Specaial Operations Dept. known as the Pirate Decoy Unit.  Oddly for some strange reason, Seina has the power which attracts the attention of pirates.  Even if Seina and his crew are members of the Pirate Decoy Unit, they are able to do other things esp. like the rescue of civilian and G.P. vessels during emergancies. 

We are aware of the duties of the Admistrative, Science and Reasearch, Communicatuions and Academy Deaprtments.  The most mysterious is the Galaxy Army.  The G.A. is the military wing of the G.P.  The Head of the G.A is still the Marshall of the Galaxy Police.  Nakita Kuramitsu was talking to is father-in-law Marshall Minami Kuramitsu.  Nakita is a very important  member of the G.A.   He  was able to use his power to convince Mikami Kuramitsu to switch his son Misao's punishment  over to serving with  him during his assignment to expose the rogue group of Galaxy Army Generals and Admirals.

The Galaxy Police in the Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo  are basically like the Justice and Law Enforcement Dept. of the G.P. in the GXP series.  Both seem not to have a Galaxy Postal Service Department. 

There are a lot of Races represented in the Galaxy Police.  The three dominated races are from Jurai, the Seniwan Empire and the Wao Race.   The members of the Wao Race are two divided into two ethical groups.  The first group has Felinelike  features.  The second group has Caninelike featues. 

There is likely another G.P. department which is compose of privateers.  Privateers are basically legal pirates. The name of this department is likely known as the Space Pirate Guild.  The Space Pirate Guild does have a darker history. It has a secret connection with the Royal Family of Jurai.  The Space Pirate Guild may operate in the fronters of the Galactic Union.  One  of its activities seem to be focus on hunting for illegal Space Pirates. Another activity of the Guild is focus on  pretending to be illegal space pirates.

A thorough post, but you left out the part about why the Kuramitsu are dominant in the GP. Seniwa was one of the founding members of the Galactic Union, and because of their large size, many of the original Galaxy Police and Galaxy Army where Seniwans. Because the Kuramitsu Clan were leaders in Seniwa, may of the Seniwan GP officers were loyal to them, so they were able to become dominant

I did meant to include the reference why the Kuramitsu Family as the dominant power in the GP. Still,  I did refer to Seniwans being one of the three dominant races in the Galaxy Police. Jurai and the Wao Race are the other two dominant races
