Hopes for OVA4

I know OVA 4 will still be quite a while out but I thought it would be interesting to wish list a bit.

What would people like to see in OVA4? Regardless of whether people liked OVA3 we are where we are.

Personally after watching Tenchi Universe I'd like to see them maybe travel away from Tenchi's house, all these galaxy/universe spanning events seem to centre on his tiny house on earth, it was quite interesting seeing them go to Jurai in universe.

For God's sake also please try and keep the number of new characters to a reasonable level, we have quite a few 'undeveloped' characters like his sister that I hope they flesh out and not just go back to cramming more in from the novels.

I want new merchandise, A high quality Ryoko figure to start with.  :chord:

I think that was the point of GXP (to go out and see the Tenchi-universe) and Seina character, while Tenchi was a homebody.  So the two are opposites in that way.

I want to see Tenchi expand his harem with Tokimi, already at the house but expressing interest in him, and this girl:

I also want the series to end with Tenchi's wedding with Seto packing the group last minute with some other surprise princesses and implying Tenchi can add to it later on if he's not satisfied;)

So basically the OAV twist on the old AU Girl X story, making it essentially Girl X, Y, Z and the rest of the alphabet (basically OAV1-3 patter again anyway) and permanent.  Maybe even add Naja, she's adorable :)

I do want OVA 4 to be a sequel to the Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-Ohki series.  As a sequel, OVA can have around 13  epsodes.   With 13 episodes, there can an episode which discloses more information about Mihoshi's family esp., her paternal grandparents, and her father Nakita.  I do expect Tenchi to become a ronin. One of the reasons for Tenchi to become a ronin is that he is not ready to go to college. Yet, Tenchi can take some (internet) courses from the Galaxy Academy. The possible courses will focus on understanding the variety of cultures in the Galactic Union like the Airai, Jurai, and the Seniwan Empire.

It is more likely that the exact number of episodes for OVA 4 will be six. 13 episodes do allow a story arc similiar to Universe's two story arcs Earth and Universe.  For the main villian, I want him to be a member of the mysterious Airai.

:how: :how:

It would be nice to see a deeper analysis on why the girls are really interested in him. Most of them seem to have some pretty shallow reasoning for it; Ayeka for instance seems moreso interested because of established lineage and disdain for Ryoko.

I think maybe a "big bad" scenario that doesn't seem as disjointed as in OVA 3 would be a marked improvement.
Is that you who's standing next to me?

I think this is a common misconception from maybe Tenchi Universe and later shows that exaggerated the initial circumstances?

When Ayeka became interested in Tenchi, all she knew was that he was some backwater farmer hick with some very minor connection to Yousho that stretched way back who knows when (due to the sword and jurain kata).  She didn't know his exact relation to herself until it was established in episode 5 with Katsuhito's fight against Kagato.  And she didn't actually like Tenchi when she thought he and Ryoko were together (beginning episode 3).

By the time the infamous cabin scene scene happened, she also didn't even know Yousho was dead or not, and was convinced herself Yousho was alive:

[05:05:10]And he must be Yosho.
[05:05:24]This must be how the lake was made.
[05:05:32]Uh...
[05:05:40]He is alive, l'm sure of it now.
[05:05:43]Since Funaho is alive,...
[05:05:46]somewhere on this planet, he must be alive also.
[05:05:48]l've been cold to you.
[05:05:50]l've been nasty and l'm sorry for that.
[05:05:53]l believe this is yours.

So in that, it was despite Tenchi's seemingly lowly status that she fell in love with him, not because of it.  Because if she cared about status, she'd be holding out for her already betrothed, for Yousho.

Ryoko was messing with both of them and Ayeka didn't know Ryoko's feelings for Tenchi when the princess fell in love with him.  Ayeka fell in love with him in the cabin scene later episode 3.  That scene was strong enough to be reiterated several time in different officialish (MK concept watercolors to what I believe is a AU novel picture).

Ayeka's motives were actually the first to be explained clearly via storytelling, before even Ryoko's (episode 5).

Washu's love for Tenchi is explained in the background, but I would love to see it animated though  :how:

I felt the cabin scene didn't convey falling in love, rather something more mild. A step above puppy love/infatuation but a step below actual love. (But this could be my own failing to parse it given my own issues in this area of life.) There are moments where she seems to have self-directed motivation to act on her feelings but these seem few and far between. Then again, there are a lot of people to focus on.
