Zinv built from the remains of the starship

Another "Where did that come from" question.

You know, the obviously not canon (at least not anymore) Dual! explanation that when D's people crashed on that Earth, they built Zinv out of their spaceship in order to build the "Idols" for the local primitive civilization to fear or worship.
Where that come from?

I know I've read it somewhere... but it may just be in the tenchi wiki
Eff's translation of the Dual pitch in the old doujin just says they used HIMC and Zinv as idols.
