I felt all the blood drain from my face when this happen this is great news indeed, Also I'll be shilling this heavily and I except you'll all do the same. If this does well enough this company could end up picking up the GXP stuff as well maybe.
I've been waiting for this since 2005, when I first learned that the novels were under consideration for licensing. As it turned out, it was felt the market for light novels wasn't there yet to justify the cost of translating/publishing the novels.
As an aside, if we want more Tenchi novels translated (especially something long like the GXP novels), sales of the Shin Tenchi Muyo! novels will need to be really, really good.
:woop: :woop: WWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woop: :woop:

Yes. We all need to buy these novels, so we can get the GXP ones translated as well.

Very much so!
It is great news. The story of Azusa, Seto, Funaho, Misaki, Yosho, Airi, Washu, Nadja are wonderful, so I hope you enjoy it.
Seto's behavior in this series is very cool.
I've always found airis story very compelling. the yosho novel really shine shines when it switches to her pov
Nice
That moment we're FINALLY being recognized again...
Real talk though (Aside from the "go buy these" comments that literally everyone else here AND their kitchen sinks have already made, which means I won't have to make that comment), the fact that Kadokawa was willing to license the True Tenchi novels in the first place, something that I thought would NEVER be licensed, means that they might still care about the western fanbase after all. Hopefully, this gives a good kick in the pants to anyone in any relevant position of power who even shows remote interest in securing a western license for OVA 4. :)
...you know what, I'm gonna say it anyway. We need to buy these.
Is anybody willing to write some advertisement pages for the Tenchi Muyo novels in the Tenchi Muyo wiki that I take care of? It might help the sales.
So there is a God after all.

All the way down to a rock hard boner? That's how I felt anyhow. Can't wait to zone out while pounding down these stories; reaching that perfect level of immersion where you gotta keep reading and can't stop.

Oh yeah, that's right... and I was just talking about this recently. Gonna edit the post shortly. But yes, this is EXACTLY why AIC needs to just sell everything Tenchi to Kadokawa and get it over with. Kadokawa has shown that they are willing to license their stuff here (A bunch of their stuff outside of Tenchi such as Kemono Friends and Kantai Collection got licensed, and heck, at least Kancolle even got an English dub). Further proof that AIC is mishandling things right now (STILL no OVA 4 license and the fact that they legit fed the Pretty Sammy sequel kickstarter to the big bad wolf known as the Megazone 23 kickstarter), plain and simple.
P.S. - Awesome stuff man. Yes, touchscreen keyboards can be a royal pain in the rear end.
Holy Shit! I mean damn, I'm literally trying not to freak out right now. Ten years nothing, then BAM! Ova 4, Ova 5 announced, and now this. I could not possibly be anymore shocked. Thank you Kodakawa :bravo:
I will definitely buy all 3 novels when they come out. If only my friends and family were anime fans...
i am pretty concerned though about this... I really hope they don't try to work around the potentially" problematic" non PC parts of the tenchi novels and ruin it. I mean u got a story about a 20 something dude marrying a teen girl and wishing her off to neglect her as his space bride... u got a novel that starts with awkward morning boners from stepmom. ryoko doing drugs masturbating and having sex... oh and a novel about wasuu going to space college and discovering she likes pussy expcialy old lady pussy... and and then finding out she likes dick to but not really since she does the single most lesbian thing ever and moves on to a farm with her twonlesbian lovers and her husband... also the subject of being able to switch dingdongs and hoohas at will cause future trchnology...comes up. there's so much I could see them fucking up just for the sake of sparing the decency of an American audiance from harm.
I am surprised to learn that the True Tenchi Novels are being license by Seven Seas. Now I am curious about the GXP novels. To me, the GXP novels are a way to help the Tenchi Muyo- Ryo-Ohki Canon.

believe me when i say this for us tenchi otaku it wont but for less intense fans it will. they will never read through my translations even now they expecialy wont if there is an official one. i mean why would they need to unless they enjoy my commentary?
if they censor washu then good luck to literally any of tenchi or gxp ever making any sense ever to them...
shit everyone though that clay was just kicked out cause they showed like porn or something at his award ceremony before i looked it over.
he got kicked out eventually for basically doing the naked man move on a girl he was supposed to be showing around campus and trying to get him to have sex with her on tape.... and the octopus nickname is because they have a creature on the academy like a nautilas that exclusivly reproduces through deception and force... and the guy went and crafted his whole image over that nickname.
and well theres all sorts of other stuff like that in the books that i worry they might dodge around.... hell that scene where she basicly agrees to learn to muff dive in exchange for getting the old lady's observatory is so super subtle that even if they weren't intending to its easy to mistranslate and if you do it comes off as very awkward and clunky. actualy the entire washu novel was hard... its filled with slang and subtext....
plus you have things like washu's planet is kanamitsu and u have kanemitsu the buttler aand in japanise those words are very different but in english its confusing.
and you got things like kusobaba... which is more of a kajishimaism then a word... and you got kajishima randomly breaking the naritive of the firstbook to explain his world....

oh good.
Nice. Hopefully it sells good, so they license the GXP novels and talk Kajishima into licensing some of his doujinshi. Which could be a real possibility, given that Seven Seas previously released doujinshi for Dance of the Vampire Bund. Which by the way, if they have no problem releasing DotVB uncensored, I don't see why anyone would think they'd butcher Kajishima's novels.

I still can't believe that Seven Seas still remembers we're around, let alone willing to take the risk. If they're willing to license Tenchi material at all by this point, there is a very good chance that the GXP novels are next. Not to mention that, they seem to be very popular among Japanese fans.
Now all I have to worry about is whether my local bookstore(s) will carry copies.
Amazon ... Its everyones local book store
I preordered my copies Day 1
I checked them out on Amazon and holy hell it's going to be a long ass wait. Plus these stories weren't super huge, right? Judging from the current translations at least, I thought they would compile them into one book.

And Seven Seas might be insane enough to tackle Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon, but that's a discussion for another place.
Seven Seas released a LN last month called Monster Girl Doctor and it is apparently full of errors. Hopefully they can get their shit together by June.

i just wanna read n compair how accurately i got what was going on cause honestly the true tenchi novels really stumped me in.parts like the whole azusa vs the shanks part... and the kanemitsu hirata fight and the shit with yosho being taken to that amaki dudes place by kanemitsus dad... washu is the only book that im pretty sure i got like 95% accurate but as i mentioned many time sits filled with hard to translate double speak due to naja and washus relationship

You're welcome. Hopefully, I did it justice. :-)

Yes, honorifics are all there, including brother/sister ones. And surnames are first. I'm very thankful the editorial staff at Seven Seas agreed to this. You'll see "House Masaki" rather than "Masaki House" because I think that's how fandom mostly has done things, going off the Dune pattern for royal Houses. And it was my preference as well. I kept names spelled the way we would expect.
BTW, in addition to all of the illustrations being there (and the color ones are in color), there's an interview at the back of the book, which I don't think I was ever aware of before. Actually, it is more of a conversation between Kajishima-sensei and Kuroda-sensei. So that was quite interesting to me.

I hate how big western light novels are. I would much prefer if they were 5" x 7" like manga releases.
its great if u ask me. the actual novels are 1\4th the size its a pain i the ass to read in japanise.

yeah i did too why i cut it out of my adaption. but its somehow declunked here i remember it being way more jarring in japanese...
the lack of contractions peeves me..
also they changed asamis name to asumi.... its a light nitpuck
When it came to names, I was kinda at the mercy of the translator. A name I was aware of, like Airi, was easy to fix. But names I wasn't aware of, I just went with what the translator provided.
But that does raise an interesting question (and hopefully one that doesn't get me into trouble)--if the translator did a name with an apostrophe to help make sure the name is pronounced correctly, would that be OK with you all? For example, SANZENIN Nagi in Hayate the Combat Buter had the official family name spelling Sanzen'in.
i dunno why anyone character in true tenchi would need an apostraphe though? like who?
and you really should read my version if your giving character name cues and such cause the old versions were filled with giant holes and i filled them in but kept the dialoge vauge . im going to be hiding the links to jurai soon though
i like how they did shuzan cause thats how its pronounced but its spelled shyuuzan in japanise which is just confusing its a hard name to pronounce honestly
overall im glad with how this came out. it could have been a huge trainwreck not because they didnt do their job right but because this book is soooooo clunky in the original language... they kept the parts that make it that way but phrased it better.
but this is just the first novel and it really isnt the most extreme or hard to translate book... although they are really doing quite alot of soft localization in this novel... like calling it a juraian lute instead of a biwa... its negligable there are alot of things in later novels that just will give any translater a struggle if they plan to soft localize it that way.

Kane'aki. I mentioned it to my boss at Seven Seas and for now, I've decided to leave it like this because of the pronunciation.
Quoteand you really should read my version if your giving character name cues and such cause the old versions were filled with giant holes and i filled them in but kept the dialoge vauge . im going to be hiding the links to jurai soon though
I'll have to keep that in mind.
Quotei like how they did shuzan cause thats how its pronounced but its spelled shyuuzan in japanise which is just confusing its a hard name to pronounce honestly
That is a name I knew well, but the translator correctly spelled it, so I didn't need to fix his name.

Haha! Well, that was part of our job. The translator did outstanding work as far as I'm concerned. And then anything that was still confusing, I tried to clarify as best as I could.
Quotebut this is just the first novel and it really isnt the most extreme or hard to translate book... although they are really doing quite alot of soft localization in this novel... like calling it a juraian lute instead of a biwa... its negligable there are alot of things in later novels that just will give any translater a struggle if they plan to soft localize it that way.
Yeah, I let that pass, but I'll try to pay attention for it in future.
oh right kanemitsu's father / kasen's butler... hmm... I can see how that would work. hey whatever keeps people from mispronouncing... huge pet peeve of mine when it's done super super badly. Ive here airi refer to as Errri once and i was just like O_o...
Please be aware in Washu... there is a lot of strange dialog... because it's closeted lesbian innuendo and double speak... at first i wasn't sure when i was reading it but the later you get into the novel and the later novels all confirm it, like her conversation with the observatory lady, and basically anything naja says,
scenes I can recall off the top of my head like this:
Quote"By the way Ms.genius..." said naja
"Please, I'm a genius just because of a two seconds difference? Please do not call me that ... I have a..." washu said but was cut off
"I know, It's Washu-chan, isn't it?" (4)
"uhm, referring to me that way so suddenly is a bit... ...."
"Hey, Washu-chan, do you have a boyfriend?"
"Oh ... no, uhm, that is to say..."
"So you don't? Hey, Washu-chan ... Hey, uhm aren't you?"* asked naja
( * this seems to be both, don't you have a boyfriend and hey aren't you. Aren't you. yes this is exactly what you think it is. it's a sly double question asking if she munches box.)
(6)
washu wasn't expecting this line of questioning and was taken aback
"......there isn't " is all washu could force out with a sigh.
"Oh so then you don't" (7)
"... ... why do you say that like it's a good thing." washu asked
"huh? Because... I also don't have one, were the same? Washu-chan"
(this line i personally translated manually 同じ者同士じゃない is a confusing phrase... intentionally so. broken down it's: same (thing/person)/ friend/ companion
同性 is dousei or homosexual is very close to 同士じ doushi the same ...
同じ pronounced onashi which is companion is close to onabe which is lesbian.)
And so it was quickly decided that she would be called washu-chan.
"I'm sure we'll be good friends, I think we will get along just fine ♡
Quote"This is amazing, is this your home, Naja?"
"............" naja gazed at washu as if she was day dreaming about something and was somewhere else entirely (subtext)
"... ... ... uhm what is it? naja-san?"
"oh uhm , yes, yes, that was a nice joke you just told. I can't believe you said it with a straight face." she said with a sly smile while tapping washu's shoulder
"It would be kind of strange if as a guide i suddenly just took a new student who wasn't from around here to my house, wouldn't it? " ( SUBTEXT)
if you aren't aware of this going in it is easy to skip over in translation, but it render's Makoto's lesbian confession to washu odd and out of place and makes the whole "and mikumo had three parent's " thing seem very very very out of place...
also to clarify, i don't know if it shows up in the books but in the last doujin that came out with all the DMM pictures Naja was confirmed as being a hermaphrodite when she met washu, and then after meeting her she soon became a full woman.
Quotethe woman was shocked. she went to the telescope and focused it on washu's house and asked washu if that's the house she was talking about. she couldn't believe washu wanted this place for that place. it was worth much less. she couldn't afford it. but washu assured her that she wanted a 1 for 1 exchange not to buy it. The woman still wouldn't sell it to her. the woman asked her why she wanted to buy the ranch that her master had given her. It reminded washu of home and of her room in roof of the orphanage with the observatory.
"oh, is that right."
"Yes!"
"Uhufu, the new philosopher has a strange hobby after all" (SUBTEXT)
"I think that I am normal, but ... ... what about you ...?"( text)
"let's just say my range of interests is wide ... Ho ho ......"(text) the woman smiled at washu. her face and laugh reminded her of her mother back on kanemitsu
"No, that's okay, it's important for an old woman to have interests."
"That's not to say so ... No... yeah."
"oh...? Even so, the machine parts of this place are in very rough condition." she says while looking at the mechanical part
Saying while watching the mechanical part visible from the window.
"Since my husband died, there's been no technician who could do maintenance."
"Could you let me do it?"
"But ..."
"Please think of it as both a survey... and form of studying."
The old woman who was holding back at the beginning decided to agree to washu's terms then from then on everyday washu came to the observatory an did internal maintenance.
Quote"Why are you leaving?" washu asked naja after the wedding, naja was packing up some luggage.
"What are you talking about, I don't want to get in the way of you two newlyweds."
"Do you know how many people live here?" there were hundreds of dozens of maids and butlers living together on the ranch with them, but that had nothing to do with naja leaving
"what do you mean."
Washu, who was watching Naja, realized that she was suffering from being deprived the pleasures of planning a wedding ceremony.
(this is again also appears to be double speak that implies more that she is mad because she wasn't able to have a wedding for her and washu)
her words about not wanting to disturb the newlyweds were half hearted.
washu hugged naja from behind and while kissing her bangs she muttered
"... ... damn. Naja, all this just because you want to show off.......? stay with me ♡"
"Well then, I guess I will just have to disturb you!"
"Yeah ♡" and at washu's request naja lived together with her and mikumo on washu's ranch.
unfortunately because of the instability of their situation they weren't able to visit neither seiniwa nor kanamitsu. (its not even subtext anymore)
And nine months later, washu gave birth.
it was a boy.
she named him "Mikumo".
obviously my dialog isn't a perfect 1 for one translation always but i was very very careful when i did this book, often dissecting sentences like that manually to be sure. so during those scenes just keep in mind there is layers to what is being talked about and it needs to be conveyed. OR ELSE MANY PARTS OF TENCHI MAKES NO SENSE and a huge part of seto's motivation to unite the galaxy is just lost...
--------------
on an unrelated note, although it takes a while to get used to it i am very glad you made them keep the surname name order, because in yosho , and this is just a minor detail,
Airi introduces herself as airi magma, and yosho introduces himself as masaki yosho, and he thinks her name is magma...until she corrects him
its an intentional culture shock moment and it only makes sense the way you had them do it, but you should make clear to them, not every character in the tenchi series says their surname first, it depends on the culture they are from and the text will show you most of the time. but it's intentional and changing it does loose some of the context,
that's all i can think of off the top of my head... gxp had way more struggles to translate tbh
As an aside, if you guys bought the first novel from any online site, toss a review there. I'm not saying throw a 5*, "Oh, it was the greatest of the great" review. You should be honest in your * rating and in mentioning your likes and dislikes. I don't know if it will help much, but it at least shows that there is "movement" for said title on those websites (Amazon, RightStuf, etc.), if that makes sense.
Novels 2 & 3 have apparently been delayed according to Amazon
Seems like they have. The new release dates are October 30th and January 22nd.
It isn't uncommon to have delays. The release dates are always a guesstimate placeholder more than anything.

Well, as Dr. Soviet said, you could buy both. But I always love the feel of an actual book in my hand vs. a reader. But having a reader copy is nice for trips and such.
phisical they have to pay to physicaly print so make em recoup their investment
I usually stick to audio books, ebooks, or online comicbook scans, due to lack of space, and since I do not place value on most of what I read, but since it is Tenchi Myo I ordered a physical copy for the bookshelf in this case.
Reading through Jurai is neat. Was expecting a bit more time on Jurai but I'm content so far.
Finally went and picked up a copy today. I've also been seeing some Japanese Tenchi fans on twitter have been buying it.

Technically, "Jurai" and "Yosho" are what Kajishima-sensei refers to as the "Jurai arc." He says as much in the afterward of "Yosho." Basically, the two novels will give you an understanding of the political situation on Jurai and hopefully an understanding of why Jurai was so concerned about Tenchi and his harem in OVA 3.

Yeah, I joked that I think as many Japanese fans are buying it as are American fans. I won't deny that I'm a bit disappointed this hasn't gotten as much buzz in America. I guess that's to be expected from an old series AND the fact that (1) this isn't some SJW manga/novel title that can be promoted like mad to win brownie points and (2) it doesn't have a title like, "I'm going to seduce Oniichan, then I'm going to drain his balls of every last sperm cell, and I'll kill anyone who dares get between me and Oniichan, even if they come from another world." 🙄

Finished Azusa Novel. Was alot shorter than I expected but considering its supplementary and not full on novel its fine. Can't wait for Yosho.
Yeah, it is technically a collection of short stories that have been linked together.
Finally sat down tonight to start reading Jurai and I ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Hopefully Yosho is just as good.
Cover for volume 2.

As an aside, Seven Seas is doing their new monthly survey. One of the questions pertains to what light novel you'd like to see them license. Naturally, I put down Tenchi Muyp! GXP novels.

Heavy Object seems like an easy choice if Yen Press isn't sitting on the rights, and I want OnC so I can get Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon in physical English one day.

I picked mine up from the comic shop today.
Amazon recently shipped my copy.
I'm halfway through Washu. I'm trying to take my time and not breeze through it, but I might give up and finish it the next time I pick it up.
I've read every translation of these books we've ever had in English, but somehow this time I gained a lot more sympathy for Yosho. In the past I always unfairly compared him to his dad, who has always been, in my mind, just the coolest. Here's to Yosho! He did what he could with what he had!
He and Ryoko were so damn melancholic heading into battle on Earth. Very dramatic. Love it.
Also ... there are so many typos in these books. Fap, rest assured you are not the only one whose translations have the odd gender-flipped pronoun mistakes. Regardless, I love them all! Every translation! Even the machine-translated ones! ENDLESS APPRECIATION!
Might I add, OWNING THESE BOOKS IN ENGLISH IS A DREAM COME TRUE!!!
Yes, the translated copies have put many fans on a solid groove :eng101:

Got my copy of washu.... Less disapointed then expected but also still disappointed by all the poorly transated lines and botched translating. 4\10
Don't take it badly ANB. You probably tried your best under time constraints.
I gotta ask--what was the deal with the translation?
> Don't take it badly ANB. You probably tried your best under time constraints.
I did try my best. I haven't compared what I sent in with what was printed. I can't tell you how many times I read over this thing. But it makes me feel ill that I might have f'd up stuff.
Could I see some examples? I didn't really notice any and it seems fine
it got some things i didnt expect it to get in... but the phrasing and interpretation of so many lines is just... awefull.. and yes it just glosses over and misses all the dou ble speak and i understand why. but it still renders whole conversations into unintellegable messes if you ask me... like washu and najas first conversation and mei and washus first talk and i never expected them to get her first talk with light house lady right but i see things that i know str8 up isnt interpreted right. i went through this bool dman near word for word at times i remember the original text and prose well. but just in general... the phrasing of everthing is just soooo baaaaaad in alot of parts... i need to do a full write up of it as i read through and compare but thats alot harder then you think. honestly though i think astro nerds controbutions were perfect from what i can tell its not on your end.
Dude Fap, your honest assessment of this is super needed. I am spamming the praise m8 :woot:
give me a bit to fully check through 4/10 is just me being upset over somethings being lost in traslation and phrased wrong...i should be done in like a day but the phrasing is sooooo bad in several parts like in the past few books but like... here its just... really bad at times though... i know im nitpicky in that sense but bad phrasing is bad adapting
i love page 81 where youd think id complain about "were the same arent we double entendre being phrased wrong and unexplained... but no im more concered about the student council cum federation.... wtf is a cum federation...
82 is just purely mistranslated lesbian washing as naja was day dreaming about washu implying taking her to her place first thing off the ship ... i dont know if at this point i can dig up the orifinal japanise lines to translate it as proof but this is very off if you ask me and its supposed to link into the later part of the story with clay taking a student home to fuck her.
:smug:
Okay we are building a good case here for some terse words within the doujin and novella translation circles. Messing up Kajishima's efforts like that is pretty sad.
And switching gears a moment, Clay did what??? :dogout:
Ooh, shades of Episode 12. :heysexy:
"student council cum federation"
I should have had this as "student council-cum-federation". So that's my bad for not realizing this until Fap asked me about it. The term "cum" here isn't the slang for orgasm, but means "with; combined with; along with; used to describe things with a dual nature or function".
Yup, as the famous "magna cum laude"
Or manga with loads of cum .... ? :rape:
Quote from: WaitoKon on March 26, 2019, 08:02:00 PM
And switching gears a moment, Clay did what??? :dogout:
clay was a guide like airi... and took his new student home and tried to fuck her thats why hes called octopuss head... cause octopi at the academy trap and rape the females... naja having dirty thoughts of washu when she says is this your place is a reference to this and the ongoing implications and theme that student guides tend to date their assigned students. washu is full of lines that can only be properly understood after reading and translating it once... tons of implied half sentances which are a grammaticly accepted thing in japan tons of sexual innuendo and closet lesbian double speak.
other then that complaint that ivemade since they announced this translation... powdered snow trees? those are the yuki kasumi trees that show up alot... i remember them being called something else last book...
tnd
親子三人この頃が鷲羽にとって一番幸せな時であった。
the translation of
親子三人この頃が is what i had an issue with
親子 is an odd phrase..
親子three people that timeがas far as washu was concerned was the best
time of her life
that word is weird it translates as parent and child
i think i interpreted it as them being a family of 3 parents... but i see how i could have gotten that wrong. :/ either way naja and washu end up together and the implication is she is one of the parents sooo...
ok like not nearly as bad as i thought now that im reading it next to the japanise like... 8/10
pg 151 no one could gainsay...
needs a space
btw all in all i think even though some of the lines of her flirting with washu are lost in translation... its still clear naja likes washu and is in the relationship to the extent she is by the end of it even if like half of the text of her flirting was lost in translation
Just bought all the True Tenchi novels in one go. Gonna marathon read through the whole trilogy over the next month or so. Woo! Can't wait to read all this TM backstory! :)

Picked up my copy of Washu today.
Same here. Finally picked up my copy from the bookstore.
Well, it's nice and refreshing to read Washu's story instead of a Royal figure from last two volumes.
I just wish that they would make a story about Washu and Kagato, along with how he(she) gained dominance and captured Washu.
So the obvious next step is for Seven Seas to take is to translate the GXP novels.
Obviously, this hinges on the success of sales for the recent novels, but I have no idea of how to begin finding this out.
That's information they don't share with me. All they've said is that it is selling fine (whatever that means...I suspect based on their sales forecasts) and that they expect it to have long tails.
I too wish that the GXP novels would get licensed. But I also know it is a huge risk for any publisher since the novel series is so long and still gaining volumes to this day.

"Selling fine" is enough to keep that spark of hope alive in me at least. But what does "long tails" mean here?
"long tail" (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/l/long-tail.asp)- consistent continual seller.
I finally received my copy in the mail today.
Congrats Antvasima, hope it gives us fresh things to add to Washu's character page on the wiki.
Thank you, but I doubt that I will find the time to read it. I am so busy managing the VS Battles wiki.
:derp: What is happening in VS right now that is adding to your page tweaks?
There are over a hundred different tasks every day. There are lots of things going on.
Would condensing the landing page categories from 12 to 6 help?
What do you mean?
If you find that two categories in the Versus scenarios can be merged, do it :)
I still do not get it.
you guys should start a thread for the Vs wiki stuff
Yes, or take it to private messages.
Are there sources that can explain why the True Tenchi's stopped at vol. 3 ? The goal was to cover "8 plot points" in the first three and do the same amount in a followup trilogy according to a note by Kajishima in the afterword for Washu book.
Kajashima probably got called back to do OAV 3&4 and the GXP novels
That makes sense if the GXP novels were 300 pages, instead of a couple dozen. :shy:
ova 2 is set up for the novels. ova 3 is set up for mihoshi and seto but never introduced minaho... so my guess is its cause ova 3 was cut short now that ova 4 is done it makes sense. it must be for spoiler reasons

I can't cite a source, but I recall back in the day, someone mentioned that the TTM novels weren't continued because Kajishima-sensei got the green light to do GXP, OVA 3 (dependent on GXP's success), and War on Geminar (dependent on OVA 3's success). So his focus shifted to writing those anime titles. Plus, once GXP was released and Kajishima-sensei reportedly disliked what Nabeshin did, he wrote the TXP novels instead.
Supposedly, OVA 3 was going to cover the material from the rumored "Mihoshi" novel. We certainly got a taste of that, but not much else.
