Has anything been posted about this book? I have not seen anything bit it is well over a year since volume 17.
nothing yet, I think it might have been delayed.
this should be the last volume. im betting hes taking his time so he can crank out one last dujin for it... and get ova 5 done
How can it be the last volume? GXP was 14 novels, Renza Arc is 3 albeit larger novels?
That doesn't make sense
Looks like Kajashima finished early.

Huh?
wtf is that a new doujin... in june? shouldnt be out till august.
renza ark was only supposed to be 3 novels long. his "fuck up" of accidently loosing his progress on volume two is the only reason it has 4 as far as i know. ive only read there were supposed to be 3 from fan comments on amazon
I thought that it would be more volumes because in the afterword of one of the novels he was saying he had to move the plot along even though he had not set up the world of Renza enough
Those doujins aren't new at all
if you consider that the firat novel is 4 episodes long and novel 15 is damn near 500 pages . hes had plent of timeanf space to write a 13 episode arc and has simply wasted it.
:Hek: Not to troll good sir, but a 500 page GXP bonanza is actually pretty cool.
I'm really surprised to hear that the GXP novels may be ending soon. Yes, I know the first book was published way back in 2003, but Kajishima only finished the "initial" arc of GXP just three books ago IIRC. He could pull an Ishibumi, make a new series directly after the current arc.
I think you can world-build with Seina better than Tenchi, TBH. Not to say Tenchi isn't cool or interesting, but Seina is a 15-year-old kid who suddenly has a huge harem of women, a spaceship, his own personal mecha, and his day job involves hunting down space pirates. Tell me you wouldn't want to see 20+ novels of that.
Here's hoping Seven Seas announces the license acquisition of the GXP series at the Anime Expo next month. :)
Great analysis cadet 87. I'll add that the release of GXP in the mid 2000s coincided with early concepts for not only Geminar but what was probably going to be the other 3 light novels after Washu. The ability to world-build really draws upon a canonical environment where elements coincide with one another.
To add to what I said, Seina is one of those rare harem protagonists in a canonically polyamorous relationship. How will that work out, how does he interact with his brides on a daily basis, what are his relationships like? He owns a super-mech, but unlike Tenchi, he's still vulnerable. What would the action scenes look like?
What about Kiriko's spec ops training? Ryoko B's pirate background? Or Neeju, how does being 2,000 years old affects her relationship with everyone else? So many unanswered questions, and unfortunately, the GXP anime wasn't good enough to inspire lots of fan fiction and speculation.
That's why GXP has fascinated me so much, why I want to see the novels licensed so badly. The characters have interesting backstories, and Seina, being a newcomer to the galactic civilization, has an interesting perspective on it.
Well not to sound biased but the previous decade was just about the most dreadful time to make anime shows. I think Bebop closed out the quality of the late 80s and 90s while Code Geass was one of those neat outliers. GXP was almost dropped by Toonami in its first airing, they were so upset.
its basicly already cannon that he ends up tied in political bs as a result of visit renza for atleast a few years and has to help seto set up for paradise war. :/ really id love to see more gxp set after paradise war. when hes older post kids. that would make the most sense
I was just trying to keep up with the renza arch. But also have been trying to keep up with OVA 5 now I'm even more confused has it been like 5 years in renza and who is after siena now did he actually get married. Lots of jumping around has anyone heard anything about 18

Nope, but if it is like when OVA 4 was airing don't expect anything until OVA 5 is almost finished.
Jeezuz cripes, the last post was 2020 and it's 2022 now. Still no Volume 18. WTF is going on with that? It's literally the missing piece to connect the novels to the OVA. Especially since the OVA mentioned some stuff that only happens in Volume 18. It's like seeing the ending first before the last scene of a movie.
good question, Covid really messed things up I guess. Hopefully this new doujin at C100 will have some answers
I'm sure that's part of it. But I recall seeing an image of the Volume 18 books or something of the sort way back then. That would mean there's product already. The "selling" part though...god knows...
Time running out on my hope that it's because he was secretly working on something for the 30th Anniversary.
He's not much of a multi-tasker.
Wasn't Ai supposed to celebrate Tenchi's 20th anniversary, and it was released like 2 years after the anniversary? AIC doesn't seem to care about anniversaries, or if they do they are incompetent when it comes to capitalizing on them.
1 month until the 30th anniversary...
:uhaul: Said month is now upon us, pretty crazy. I think about it a lot seeing as I somehow joined the forums precisely on the 25th anniversary date. Anyway those five years went by super quick. :lurk:
So timeline wise after 17 some shit happens and then Paradise wars right? And Paradise Wars is finished right?
Do we know what exactly happens within that time gap?
simple answer: Nope.
Little things are evident. Seina marries 10 times over, 1 person still not animated. The marriages basically settle the conflicts in Renza.
Magic shenanigans.
But the details are.... hopefully... eventually... maybe... told in the novels when they continue.
At some point, Tsukiko, Kiriko's mother, leaves Earth- that's one of the stories Kajishima seems to want to tell in the next "phase." I think the two other Masaki girls, Mizune and Fuka, go with her- as they are also missing from OVA5- but their previous partner, Otoka, is actually present.
Who did Seina marry 10 times over with? Just curious.
Well, married 10 girls. The main four, the Renza girls, Jovia, and (probably) an elf girl named Airen. They mention her in passing OVA5 as someone who will have to disguise her features to live on Earth and Jovia jokes that she married Seina as "a plus-one to a great beauty" and Airen makes the most sense to be the "great beauty."
I'm pretty sure the girl that has to be disguised is Acha. She's the Wau girl that Seina accidentally got engaged to on the same planet where the Shank base and Zinv were located.

Both are mentioned. Airen would be noticeably "elfin." Probably an exaggerated version of Aura.
Does anybody have any info if Vol. 18 is already out? I would like to download even if it's just the raw so I can read the final book.
It's confusing because as far as I've known, we have zero news about Vol. 18, but I just saw this old article and it literally says it shipped back in June 2018 (!?)
It's this article I'm talking about:
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2022-12-22/tenchi-muyo-gxp-project-gets-new-paradise-shido-hen-anime/.193262 (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2022-12-22/tenchi-muyo-gxp-project-gets-new-paradise-shido-hen-anime/.193262)
It's not out, there is no release date. Kajishima said he isn't working on it right now. AnimeNewsNetwork is run by morons. Volume 17 was released in June 2018, not volume 18.
