The new GXP anime is set in 2005 I think, or could be an earlier year that has the same days as march 2005 does.

It just doesn't work.
Here's the Concrete timeline, which hinged largely on the calendar shown in OVA4 assumed to be September 1994
https://tenchi.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline#Present_Timeline
By that timeline, using ages of Kenshi and things said, the GXP OVA should be occurring in 2000.

Here's a page that lists years when the calendar shown in episode 2 of the GXP OVA would work

2005 is the soonest after September '94

But Kenshi would have been born in 1995. He's not close to 10 years old here.
And the anachronisms that started with the PC and flip phone in OVA3 keep on showing up. LCD TV's were not common in 2000 or 2005, Play Stations were in early generations. Yaoi fandom was barely getting to be a thing in 2005 and would have been extremely niche when Jovia's previous self was evidently killed while carrying a bag full of it.
It just cannot be ignored anymore. We can't assume a concrete timeline with a show that has no interest in keeping one.

The writers and animators are obviously depicting a contemporary world because that's the easiest thing to do. I'm not going to try to maintain a concrete timeline that doesn't make sense.

Does all the bouncing around space in GXP, as well as Jurain enhancements, change the appearance age of characters like Seina and Kiriko?

Here's one of many shots of the calendar in the episode.

Personally, I think the grainy year looks like "2016"

I wonder if it's clearer on Blu-ray?

2011 might be a more viable candidate
