Title: What Anime are you currently watching?
Post by: Surgeon Of Death on November 07, 2014, 11:01:28 PM
I don't want to create too many threads for anime that I probably only watched here in this board, so for the purpose of getting some activity around here what are some anime that you are currently watching?

I just finished Kimi Ni Todoke S2, a fairly popular shojo anime, it was pretty good. I'm just a sucker for romance anime after watching Toradora and since this was recommended to me. I just don't like the ending too much. I guess I should get started on reading the manga...

I also finished To Aru/A Certain Magical Index S2, quite a step above Index S1 and leagues better than Railgun. I just can't seem to find myself too interested in the magical side of the story though even though the title suggests its mostly about magic and the show always seems to tend to get better whenever the story calls for Accelerator or an arc with espers. I'm also starting Railgun S2 much to my dismay since its the latest anime from the Toaru series and since I heard many good things about S2 especially since they're adapting the Sisters Arc and the Clones and Accelerator tend to be one of my favorite characters in the series.

What else.....I guess just the Steins;Gate IBM episodes,Love Live (considering dropping),Kore wa Zombie and trying to finish Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-Kun.

Anyone else watching anime other than Ai? Or maybe something I've watched?

:huhm:

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun's pretty neat, although their character design for Nozaki was annoyingly lame. Nozaki looks like a secondary/supporting character. :damn:
They should've made Mikorin the main guy or something. The other characters are interesting to some extent. :emot-chio:

Other than that, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu was fun to watch.
. . .  :frustrated:

Here's what I'm currently watching in terms of anime.  This isn't a huge list right now, but it's going to get massive soon enough.

-Dragon Ball Super (Dang nabbit, the Future Trunks Arc has been GODLIKE thus far)
-Tiger Mask W (Even the two episodes thus far that some would consider filler had a method to their madness, Toei is handling this one perfectly, BIG UPS!)
-Digimon Universe Appli Monsters
-Digimon Adventure Tri
-Kamen Rider ExAid (Okay, so this one's not actually an anime, but I'm still putting it here... DEAL WITH IT :smug: )

What I plan on watching at some point in the future, but definitely before we get too far into 2017.  This is where that list gets even bigger as these get added.

-Tenchi Muyo OVA 1 to 3 (Marathon, likely right after Thanksgiving in preparation for OVA 4 Episode 1)
-Tenchi Muyo OVA 4 (The moment episode 1's subs are out, I'm on this like flies on a backyard BBQ)
-Ultimate Muscle - The Kinnikuman Legacy (Ultimate Muscle 15th is next year, time to revisit this one even though Toei likely won't do anything new with it)
-JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Marathon of all four parts after Diamond is Unbreakable finishes, JoJo's 30th is next year and I therefore expect an anime adaptation of Part 5 / Vento Aureo)
-Sailor Moon Crystal (Marathon of the entire series thus far - given that the Sailor Moon 25th is next year, you KNOW that Toei is likely doing the next season of Crystal for that, likely Stars, calling it now)

Not gonna have time to marathon Naruto for its anime's 15th next year, so that one's out.  Too many episodes = it would cut into everything else and with the massive number of anime anniversaries next year, that's a BAD THING (c).  As for Sword Art Online, I'll only even consider going near it if they do something for its anime's 5th aside from just the recently announced movie, meaning if they do Season 3.  If the movie is all they do given that it's not part of the canon, I'm not going to even bother.  Same thing goes for Gundam Seed (Though I can't see Sunrise doing anything for that given the fact that they just did an HD remaster of that AND the Gaogaigar 20th next year - if they do something new for an anniversary, it will be for Gaogaigar, calling it now)... but I'm more than likely going to check out Gundam 00 for its 10th.

Whoa it's been awhile since I've been here.
Let's see....Been binge watching Gundam since this summer. Zeta and War In Pocket are the best so far. Currently watching Mobile Fighter G Gundam (just wished the BD rips would come out faster! Same with OVA 4!).

Also watching Flip Flappers,Watashi ga Motete Dousunda,Oreshura,JoJo and Keijo.

Just wished Fall 2016 would have as cool a lineup as Winter or Summer. I miss Mob Psycho 100 and Re:Zero already.

Now that I'm feeling better, I started working on my backlog and finished up Thunderbolt Fantasy. Man that was good. The first half I watched many weeks ago, before undergoing surgery, but with everything going on and how lousy I felt, I put watching the rest on hold and just got around to finishing it. And it was well worth the wait. Looking forward to the show's next season.

The shows I'm watching with a friend

Hokuto No Ken
Working!!!
Seikon No Qwaser (Close to the end of this)
GTO
Moretsu Space Pirates
Bamboo Blade

On my own I'm in the middle of both Gochuumon and Bakuon!! the latter of which I picked back up after starting it with a few people. Last night DrSoviet and I started watching Tenchi In Tokyo and... I don't remember having so many gripes about it and it was just the first episode. Will probably try and remember to list them all somewhere.

Commence me listing my early 2017 viewing lineup.  Most of these are based on franchises hitting anniversaries this coming year.

-JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (JoJo's 30th).  Gonna be marathoning it as a whole soon given that Diamond is Unbreakable just ended.  Therefore, it's time to jump in before Vento Aureo gets announced.

-Digimon Universe Appli Monsters (Digimon 20th).  It features Appmon rather than Digimon, but it is a VERY good series and definitely worthwhile if you're a fan of the Digital Monsters.  Gatchmon is mah BOI.  GATCHI GATCHI GATCHI!  :)

-Digimon Adventure Tri (Again, Digimon 20th).  Episode 4 in February.  Phoenixmon and Seraphimon comeback incoming!

-ToHeart and ToHeart 2 (ToHeart 20th).  Marathoning all three iterations of the TV series - 1, Remember my Memories, and then 2.  After that, gonna go through the ToHeart 2 OVAs, because they actually continued that one with OVAs rather than a second season a la RmM.  Gonna skip Dungeon Travelers because that one isn't exactly canonical.

-Utawarerumono (Utawarerumono 15th).  Haven't decided when I'll get The False Faces done.  For now, I'm going to get through the original series given that this one's hitting the big 1-5 this year (The original game released in 2002).

-Tiger Mask W.  I have a gut feeling that we're nearing endgame here, so this one might be over soon.

-Kamen Rider ExAid.  It's a tokusatsu, not an anime, so yeah... but if you're a Rider fan or just a video game guy / girl in general, GO WATCH THIS.  Seriously.

Given that Tenchi OVA 4 episode 1 subs might not be far off now, I'm going to get the marathon of OVAs 1 to 3 done soon, but not until I finish JoJo's.  But on the other hand, a monkey wrench is now in play - I just caught wind that the rumors of Sword Art Online Season 3 have started flying, so yup, gonna have to marathon that one (I previously said that I'd only marathon SAO if Season 3 gets announced, and it's looking like yeah, it's gonna happen).  Still not marathoning Naruto for the anime's 15th - too many episodes, too little time.  But I likely WILL catch Boruto as it progresses.

KonoSuba Season 2 - A great fantasy parody that continues to be great.

Akiba's Trip - a surprisingly good ecchi comedy. Gonna watch episode 3 ASAP.

Youjo Senki - a dark fantasy. The premise sounds cliche, but the animation is great and the fight scenes are really good.

elDLIVE - A fun sci-fi adventure story. Not as great as the first two shows, but entertaining.

Kobayashi-san's Dragon Maid -  A very funny and creative SoL fantasy comedy. Gonna wait until the other shows are done to watch the whole thing.

I really want to watch Kobayashi-San and KonoSuba but with lack of Internet access I have to put them on a wait list for now sadly. I also want to check out Gabriel Dropout too. The only anime I'm currently watching is Yuri on Ice. ~ I'm about halfway done with it.

Continuing onward with Digimon Universe Appli Monsters and Kamen Rider ExAid.  Yeah, Timemon confirmed Appmon's version of Dio & The World... except that he's one of the good guys.  (This fight with Dogatchmon was a strength test.)  That, and they made some nice historical references in this episode, specifically involving Marvin Minsky.  Nice tribute stuff there, and an outright awesome real world reference.

Elsewhere, I'm taking a break from Dragon Ball Super until the current batch of filler ends, and yeah, the Universe Survival Arc is gonna be LIT.  I'll likely take advantage of the break in Super to get a marathon of Utawarerumono in soon, both the original and The False Faces, and then transition to ToHeart and ToHeart 2 (Most seasons for both, though I'll skip Dungeon Travelers given that's not exactly as canonical to the story as the other iterations of TH2 are).  I still haven't gotten the Tenchi OVA marathon done, but that likely won't happen until the subs are out for OVA 4 episodes 1 AND 2 now, because we're too close to episode 2's release.  That, and Digimon Adventure Tri episode 4's also coming this month, so yeah, gonna wait for OVA 4 subs before marathoning 1 to 3 given that Tri's episodes are movie length.

To summarize my current watching and will watch soon list...

Currently Watching
-Digimon Universe Appli Monsters
-Kamen Rider ExAid
-"Chain List" (See below)

Chain List (Watching in this order, not multiple at once)
-Utawarerumono
-Utawarerumono: The False Faces
-ToHeart
-ToHeart: Remember My Memories
-ToHeart 2 (TV)
-ToHeart 2 (OVAs in release / story order save for Dungeon Travelers which is getting left out)

Standby List
-Digimon Adventure Tri Episode 4 (Once released)
-Dragon Ball Super (Once Universe Survival Arc begins)
-Tenchi Muyo! OVA 1 to 4 (Once OVA 4 episodes 1 and 2 get English subs)

DAAAAAANG, Digimon Universe Appli Monsters and Dragon Ball Super have continued to impress me greatly.  As of last week, I am watching DBS again now that we're out of the filler zone and the Universe Survival Arc has started up.  On the Appmon side of things, still waiting on English subs for this episode (Should be out soon!) but we just got Gatchmon's Ultimate form Globemon... just plain BEAST.  *Points at his new profile pic*

Likely going to take a breather from ExAid for now and focus on Super, Appmon, and get through ToHeart in order as noted before.  At this point, I've decided to save Utawarerumono for April and watch that alongside Digimon Frontier for two reasons - one, both hit their 15th anniversaries that month, and two, we're likely to get Tenchi OVA 4 episode 1 English subs soon as talked about in the main discussion, which combined with the impending release of episode 2 and Digimon Adventure Tri episode 4 means OVA marathon time sooner than later.  Can't put too much on my plate right now, 5 at once is enough (Even though once out of the original series and Remember My Memories, ToHeart as a whole shouldn't take THAT long TBH)... but as a result, I'm able to add Dungeon Travelers to the queue.

So the lists now read as...

Currently watching / Will watch once released
-Dragon Ball Super
-Digimon Universe Appli Monsters
-ToHeart (Everything from original series to TH2 Dungeon Travelers)
-Tenchi Muyo! OVA (1 to 4)
-Digimon Adventure Tri Episode 4

Backburner until April
-Utawarerumono (Original + False Faces)
-Digimon Frontier

Double post because it's been a while and this post is a significant update.  Not intended as a bump.

Anyway... with Nyaa, which was my means of keeping up to date with Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters and Tenchi Muyo! OVA 4 completely wiped (Likewise for the rest of you at least for OVA 4 I'm sure), it looks like I'm going back to what I've already got available to me and / or what is known to be worked on by other sub groups at other trackers, and will be waiting until OVA 4 gets English subs for both episode 3 and 4 to get back to it.  At this point, I'm not expecting to be able to finish Appmon so easily compared to OVA 4, given that only one smaller, lesser known sub group was working on it and Nyaa was their only means of distribution.  Shame given that I'm the Digimon guy around here...  :orks:

Ahem.  What I'm likely going to do is continue with both Kamen Rider Ex-Aid (Gonna have to switch sub groups through, but hey, at least it's still gonna be available!) and Kyuranger (Fun fact for Tenchi fans, Champ / Oushi Black has the same voice actor as DA KING... errr, I mean Azusa), get through all of ToHeart (1 and 2) starting on the exact date of the 20th anniversary, and then wait for Ultraman Geed to start up in July.  In addition, I'm watching Kyoryuger Brave as of earlier this week, which is a neat little continuation of the original series, which was adapted as Power Rangers Dino Charge / Supercharge (They likely won't do anything with Brave for PR though).

Watching Now
-Kamen Rider Ex-Aid
-Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger
-Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger Brave

Standby
-ToHeart (Everything from original series to TH2 Dungeon Travelers) (Starting 5/23)
-Ultraman Geed (Starting in July, series premieres on 7/8)

Backburner / Potentially forced to end premature
-Tenchi Muyo! OVA 4 (Hopefully once subs for episodes 3 and 4 are done, no time is wasted in putting them up)
-Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters (YEEEAAAAAH... good luck here given that only one smaller group was working on it and they've likely disappeared)

Currently in the middles of season 3 of Sailor Moon Crystal. The first two seasons were meh, but it has finally gotten good with the third season. Plus, I have to say that I'm in love with the new version of Michiru Kaioh

I recently watched Ghost Stories (english dub, of course). It has become an inside joke for us at home to do Keichiro's trademark sob.

As for this season's anime I watched:
Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul
Eccentric Family S2
Natsume's Book of Friends S6
World Fool News S2
My Hero Academia S2
Suka-Suka
Grimoire of Zero
Alice and Zouroku
Tsuki ga Kirei

and I know this doesn't count, but I just got into Rick & Morty.

Updating stuffs.  The good news is that Appmon is still active given that the group doing it just moved to another tracker and made it known, so we're safe there.  Likewise for everything else.  I'm still waiting for a bit to begin ToHeart, but aside from that... list time.

Currently Watching
-Kamen Rider Ex-Aid.  DAAAAAANG did things just get crazy in this week's ep.  Kamen Rider Cronus is legit Dio.  Yes, THAT Dio.  As in, ZA WARUDO.  Seriously, at this point, I'm DEFINITELY going to recommend that anyone who hasn't watched a Kamen Rider series in their life but wants to?  Yes, go and start with Ex-Aid.  The video game motif makes it a good starting point for ANYBODY, and the story is REALLY good.  Everything actually gets explained eventually.

-Ultra Fight Orb.  These are only 5 minutes at most, but it's a neat way to continue Ultraman Orb's story for a bit longer (And introduce the Emerium Slugger form) while buying time for Ultraman Geed to be ready come July.  The nods to the Ultraseven 50th this year (Ultraseven, Ultraman Zero, and of course Emerium Slugger) are neat too.

-Digimon Universe Appli Monsters.  The last 8 episodes or so were slogging, not gonna lie.  That's because "oh look, Sixth Ranger trope character, and what's that? He's got a different Appli Drive than everyone else? Time to make everyone go SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY because TOYS PRINT MONEY!", but this week's ep bought things back on track.  Wish it didn't take 8 episodes for them to do so though... but so far, that's my only complaint about the series.  The first half was great, the 8 episode slogging was bad... but we're back on track.

-Dragon Ball Super.  I am a couple of episodes behind, but it won't take THAT long to catch back up.

Standby
-Tenchi Muyo! OVA 4.  As soon as English subs drop for episode 3, I'm in like Flynn.

-ToHeart.  Waiting a bit and when I start, going through the whole thing (Both 1 and 2).

-Ultraman Geed.  Waiting until, you know, it actually starts.

Dropped
-Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger.  Fell off course completely, so I'm gonna drop it just to be safe and get back to it later.

Quote from: Nanaten on May 07, 2017, 04:53:41 AMand I know this doesn't count, but I just got into Rick & Morty.

Oh... but what if I were to tell you that given I'm counting tokusatsu franchises (Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai) on my lists, then yes, Rick & Morty DOES count?  Bottom line, it's not anime.  Just as tokusatsu isn't anime.  Just saying.  +1 to your post.  :)

I watched both seasons of Seitokai no Ichizon, read the sequel manga, and read a part of the light novel all in a few day. I rarely find shows that I enjoy enough to plow through like that, but this show has become one of my favorites. Ken has become one of my favorite harem mcs as well. Hopefully, someone eventually translates the light novels because the anime seemed to leave out a lot, and I'd love to give them a read.

I don't tend to watch shows as they air because I prefer to watch them at my own pace, but I'm watching a few this season.

Renai Boukun was the one I was looking forward to the most, and the one I'm most behind on. I really like the manga, but the pacing of the anime is terrible. They've cut so many fun parts out just to get to the hell arc, which isn't even that great. I keep telling myself I'll catch up, but in all likelihood I'll probably never touch it again and just keep reading the manga.

Another show I might not finish is Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records. I found the first two episodes really enjoyable, but everything after that I've had a hard time getting through. I find Sisti, Lumia and Re=l(what a stupid ass name) to be unbearable, and just want to see more of Glenn interacting with Celica and the rest of the class. I think this show would have been better if it had just been fantasy GTO.

The last show I've been watching is Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism. The mc is great, the girls are all insane and it's just been a lot of fun. It's the only show I'm caught up on, and I find myself really looking forward to it each week. Hopefully, whoever is translating the manga can pick up the pace a bit because I will probably start reading it after the anime ends.

Update stuffs!

Currently Watching
-Kamen Rider Ex-Aid.  It keeps getting better.  Ex-Aid and Brave got their final forms, stuff's getting real... yeah.  This show is GOOD.

-Digimon Universe Appli Monsters.  It keeps getting better here, too.  The only stuff that has to be explained now is lined up to be explained before it all ends, so we're in good territory.  8 episodes wasted is 8 episodes wasted... out of 52.  That's not bad, and at least those 8 came in a row rather than in spurts.

-Tenchi Muyo! OVA 4.  Episode 3 was EPIC WIN.

-Ultraman Geed.  Watched episode 1, and DAAAANG.  Orb was really good with its story and pacing, Geed is looking like it will be the same way.  The big difference here is that Geed Primitive VS Skull Gomora was a much better opening fight than Orb Spacium Zeperion VS Maga-Basser.

-Dragon Ball Super.  If you're not watching the Universe Survival Saga at this point, you're not trying.

Finished
-Tiger Mask W.  The series ended at the end of June, and dang nabbit, it was a fun ride while it lasted.

Standby
-ToHeart.  Why I haven't even started yet, I don't know.  But I'm gonna get to it.

-Tenchi Muyo! OVA 4.  Yeah, it's on both the current and standby lists now because as Rumble always said... "First we crack the shell (Wait for episode 4), then we crack the nuts inside (Wait for subs)".

Posting again because it's been a while.  Editing the previous post won't work.

Currently Watching
Dragon Ball Super - Dang, this past week's episode hit everyone right in the feels, even Goku.  The whole Universe Survival Arc being one big battle where they take moments to explain things is REALLY good (Especially given that 8 of the 12 Universes are involved in the darn thing).

Digimon Universe Appli Monsters - HUGE PLOT TWIST and now we're in endgame.  Big bad Deusmon coming up this week, heroic God Appmon incoming after that (Team Hadesmon here as far as the 5 heroic Gods go, by the way).

Ultraman Geed - Fell off course for a bit but now I'm caught up.  Ultraman Zero Beyond is just all forms of win.

ToHeart 2 - Got through the first 4 episodes of the TV series, and I plan on watching the whole thing in order (Including Dungeon Travelers).  Tough to pick a favorite character this early given that there's a 13 episode TV series and several OVAs of 2 to 3 episodes each to get through...

Finished
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid - Sit down, my friends, and let me tell you the story of a Genius Gamer named Emu Hojo... but yeah, Ex-Aid finished up this week, and it's officially going down as the series that I will recommend to anyone who wants to watch Kamen Rider but haven't seen any of the previous seasons, no questions asked.  The video game motif combined with its well written (And VERY awesome) story makes it the perfect entry point for newcomers to the franchise.  Favorite character award from me goes to Kuroto "Memelord" Dan (AKA Kamen Rider Genm).

Standby
Tenchi Muyo! OVA 4 - URK.  The wait for episode 4 and then subs is likely gonna be painful as @#$% compared to what originally was the plan because of that delay.  The fact that Ex-Aid is over makes it even harder to deal with honestly - I hope that someone picks up Kamen Rider Build quickly enough for me to watch that while I wait.

I recently watched the Tetsuwan Birdy OVA and thought it was pretty good.

I also watched the Ane Log OVAs which were great. It's a shame that it never got a TV series. It also sucks that the manga scanlation is dead. I need more Moya-nee in my life.

I tried the first 2 episodes of Sorcerer Hunters and the first episode of the Battle Athletes OVA. I'ill probably watch at least one more episode of each, but as of now I'm not all that interested in either.

And I've started catching up on One Piece too. I've watched 16 episodes but I'm still around 50 episodes behind.

Watched Josie and the Pussycats. Loved it. Anime Of The Year 1970.

Watching Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space. Still like it but I want more music chases.

Been listening to the soundtrack nonstop ever since. Fucking amazing music.

Tried watching Riverdale when I heard Josie was in it. Instead it was Valerie and the Valeries. Fuck that. Also one of the worst things I've ever seen. Pure cancer. :emot-commissar: << Also my feelings towards the new Josie comic.

Also, Alexandra is best girl ya ding-a-ling.

Doing some Spring 2018 season based anime catchup right now.  Given that My Hero Academia, High School DxD, and Full Metal Panic! are all getting sequel seasons in April, along with Sword Art Online getting a spinoff in April (And an actual sequel season later this year, hence why I'm doing the catchup now even though April gets the spinoff), I am doing that now to be ready (I haven't watched any of them yet, and YES, I am already well aware that the second half of SAO Season 1 is going to be an outright cringefest).  First on the list is DxD and Academia.

Anyway, usual bullet points list.

Dragon Ball Super - SERIOUSLY loving the Tournament of Power.  The continued nods to Dragon Ball lore that we thought we'd never see nodded again (Super Saiyan Second Grade and the Mafuba for example), some of the best and consistent action we've seen from the series in a while... but DANGIT.  That makes me sad that it's gonna be over in March.

High School DxD - Season 1 finished as of last night.  Gonna skip the OVAs in all 3 seasons for now and go back to them after I'm caught up with the TV episodes and Academia.  Knowing that there are 2 more seasons to get through, I don't have a favorite character yet (Issei and Rias are competing for that top spot so hard right now, but look out because Akeno is packing heat).  However... Koneko is DEFINITELY in possession of the "swag points" bonus.  BA Adorable?  DARN RIGHT.

My Hero Academia - 3 episodes into Season 1.  GOSH DARNIT.  Why did I not start watching this show sooner?  The idea of an anime heavily inspired by American comic books is just done so RIGHT here.  And oh, I can already tell that All Might is going to be my favorite character once I finish both seasons.  That's already a gimme.

Checklist for Spring 2018?  Simple.

-High School DxD Hero
-My Hero Acedmia Season 3
-Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory
-Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
-Megalobox
-Persona 5

Yeah, you can see why I'm doing the catchup now.  4 of those are sequels / direct spinoffs to shows that already have canonical material leading to them.  Even though it's not a well known thing (Albeit it is tied into Ashita No Joe which IS well known), I'm definitely looking forward to Megalobox - it's probably going to remind me of the time I spent watching Tiger Mask W from late 2016 into early 2017, and that is a VERY good thing.  I'm also seriously looking forward to SAO Alternative (Finally, a season of SAO where Kirito in particular isn't gonna be around - this should definitely lower the level of complaints about this season by around 60%, give or take a bit).

And even though this technically doesn't count because it's tokusatsu, Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger is also on my Spring checklist.  Gotta have something to fill the "long running series" void that Dragon Ball Super ending is going to leave behind, and I can't rely on Kamen Rider Build for that because I am NOT caught up with it at all.  But oh, Lupinranger VS Patranger starts at the beginning of February, so that's another technicality that prevents it from counting here...   :shy:

I watched season 2 of My Hero Academia. It has one of my favorite tournament arcs ever. I'm pumped for season 3.
Especially for the All for One fight.
I also started Ixion Saga DT. I'm not sure if I will finish this one. The day I started watching it I was really enjoying it and watched quite a few episodes, but when I went back to it a few days later I couldn't really get into it.

Alright.  Let's start by posting my watch list for Spring 2018.

-High School DxD Hero
-Persona 5
-My Hero Academia Season 3
-Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
-Golden Kamuy
-Megalo Box

To catch up, I caught DxD in its entirety save for the OVAs (Those are filler stories anyway), Season 1 of Academia, and the first half of Season 2 of Academia, as in the U.A. Sports Festival arc.  My sentiments are the same as Ryo-Okay's - that is probably THE best tournament arc I've seen in any anime in quite some time.  I was going to watch Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory, but I haven't seen any of the previous seasons and by the time I was caught up for DxD and Academia... TIME UP.  So I switched it out for Golden Kamuy to compensate.

Anyway.  Right now, I've caught the first episodes for Academia Season 3, GGO, and Megalo Box.  Academia, recap episode basically.  GGO, good start and it definitely seems like it will be a different kind of story than SAO, even though it's set in the same world / canon (In fact, Kirito and the rest of the main cast won't appear in this at all).  Megalo Box, also a good start.

This anime season's gonna be GOOD.  :getin:

I have been watching Kakegurui, Shokugeki no Soma, a bit of High School DxD and Stien's Gate 0.

Checking in and giving my thoughts on what I'm watching in the Spring 2018 season.  First, I should list off what I'm watching.

-High School DxD Hero
-Persona 5
-My Hero Academia Season 3
-Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
-Fist of the Blue Sky Regenesis
-Golden Kamuy
-Megalo Box

Now, my thoughts on each one.  I like all 7 shows here, but I feel that Golden Kamuy is the weakest of the bunch and I will get to that soon enough.

-Don't let DxD Hero's changed art style (Which is because they changed studios because BorN's ending went WAAAY too far off canon; Hero episode 0 is basically canon based damage control) turn you away from it.  It's still everything we love about DxD (Well, except the second half of BorN, anyway).  The Kyoto arc (Which just ended) was awesome.  Kunou is a good addition to the cast (FINALLY we get youkai in DxD), and the decisive battle of this arc was VERY satisfying.  Not gonna spoil it because it involves characters that weren't noted before coming in (Not just Issei's new powerup), but let's put it this way... a curbstomp for a curbstomp.  Can't wait for the Rating Game between Rias and Sairaorg (That's what the second half of Hero will be, by the way).

-Persona 5... admittedly, there are some pacing issues here.  Not nearly as bad as Kamuy's, but there are pacing issues.  26 episodes or so and they needed the first 4 to finish Kamoshida (The first villain)?  COME ON BRUH.  This means one of two things; either we're getting a Season 2, or there's gonna be a rushed and shoddy ending.  I hope it's the former (Season 2).

-Academia Season 3.  I mean, it's Academia.  It's awesome.  Nuff said.

-GGO.  Even if you didn't like SAO (I understand the complaints everyone has about it), give GGO a chance.  It's set in the same canon / universe as SAO, but none of the characters from SAO itself show up.  Karen / Llenn is actually a much more relatable main protag than Kirito in so many ways.

-I'll say it now... I actually like Regenesis being all CG.  It reminds me of Guilty Gear Xrd and Dragon Ball FighterZ.  Kinda unique to have an anime like that.  I'm loving the consistent pace with both the fighting and the storytelling here.

-Kamuy.  Two words: PACING ISSUES.  This one's only gonna be 13 episodes or so.  7 episodes in... and there hasn't been ANY progress to the main plot.  As soon as Sugimoto and Asirpa got 2 of the tattoos (I think they have 2 right now)... no progress on the main plot whatsoever.  Shame.  It had a strong start and now it's slowing down something VERY fierce... something that can't be afforded when they're halfway done already.  We should be expecting a Season 2 here.

-Megalobox.  THIS ONE RIGHT HERE.  In my opinion, this is THE anime of the Spring 2018 season.  If you're not watching it... stop what you're doing and get started on it already!

Okay, so after the past week or so of episodes, gonna chat a bit more and then note what I'm looking forward to in relates to Summer and Autumn 2018, hence the double post.  My watch list is still mostly the same right now, but I ended up dropping Persona 5.  Stuff happened elsewhere and I fell 3 episodes behind there, so... yeah.

(WARNING: This post transforms into more than a bit of a wall of text from here on out.)

Still enjoying all of what I'm watching, but yeah... Megalobox continues to prove itself as THE anime of this season every time a new episode is released.  On another note, Golden Kamuy, much to its credit, seems to finally be getting over its pacing issues... but guess what?  It's too little too late at this point given that we're only getting 12 episodes and this ended up happening in episode 8.  That's more than halfway through and a bit TOO close to the endgame for my liking; this means we're either getting a Season 2 (I REALLY hope this is what happens because there are some awesome ideas in this series, and the characters are plain awesome; Asirpa's goofier moments and the faces she makes during them are just plain smile inducing) or a rushed ending (If this happens, I'm gonna riot and yell "What a wasted opportunity!" at the top of my lungs).

As for the Summer 2018 season.  Only 2 seasonal shows really have my attention there, and those are Hi Score Girl and Grand Blue.  Zoids Wild is likely to be at least a 2 season deal like the seasons before it, so I'm not noting that one as a seasonal anime (I'll be watching it though).  I can't jump into most of Summer's offerings though, given that they are mostly sequels to shows I haven't even jumped into in full yet.  That means stuff like Attack on Titan Season 3 and Free!... nope, not caught up, so YOU'RE DISQUALIFIED!  My watch list there will probably be Hi Score Girl and Grand Blue Dreaming, and that's it (Zoids Wild and Ultraman R/B notwithstanding).

The good news is that this actually works to my benefit.  That'll give me the time I need to catch up on Sword Art Online (Yes, I am already aware that the second half of Season 1 brings some serious cringe in numbers, so I'm already bracing for impact), A Certain Magical Index (Along with A Certain Magical Railgun), and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney.  Gotta get caught up on those because SAO Season 3 and Phoenix Wright Season 2 are both confirmed for Autumn 2018, and we know that Index Season 3 is coming in 2018... which means given that Summer 2018's cards are already on the table, that's likely Autumn 2018 territory as well.

Let's close it out with my tentative watchlists for the next two seasons...

Summer 2018
-Hi Score Girl
-Grand Blue
-Zoids Wild
-Ultraman R/B (It's toku, not anime, but I've noted toku in my lists here before, SOOO...)
-"Warm and cozy catchup slot" (Basically means me going back and watching SAO, Index, Railgun, and Phoenix Wright)

Autumn 2018
-Sword Art Online Season 3 (And yeah, I am NOT looking forward to having to deal with SAO Season 1's second half in preparation for this)
-SSSS Gridman (OH MAN, I am SERIOUSLY looking forward to this one!)
-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney Season 2 (OBJECTION! :P )
-Hinomaruzumou (Hey, a sumo wrestling anime... this oughta be interesting!)
-A Certain Magical Index Season 3 (If it happens here... please let it happen here...!)

P.S. I'll say it one more time.  Index Season 3 is NOT confirmed for Autumn 2018, but it IS confirmed for 2018... so Autumn is likely where it will be.

PHEW... dang, it's really sad to see the Spring 2018 anime season go, because two season deals such as My Hero Academia Season 3 (That, as you all know, I'm watching) and sequels such as Attack on Titan Season 3 (None of which I'm caught up for) aside, Summer 2018 doesn't have much variety at all.  In my opinion, my top 3 shows of the previous season would have to be Megalobox, High School DxD Hero, and Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online (And in that order, too).

As much as Summer 2018 is cursed with both "most of this season is sequels, we hope you're caught up!" and "by the way, if you're not caught up for those sequels, too bad because there isn't much genre variety with this season's new shows!", I AM watching 2 of this season's new offerings, those being Grandblue and High Score Girl.  And gosh darnit, am I VERY glad that these are the 2 I went with.

Grandblue - Crazy fun for all the right reasons.  Went in expecting a typical slice of life series in a college setting where the main cast is part of a scuba diving club... ended up getting a slice of life series in a college setting where the main cast is part of a scuba diving club AND said main cast just so happens to be filled with wacky zany nutty funsters.  The first episode alone had me VERY close to busting a gut laughing a couple of times.  I did laugh a couple of times, but no gut busters yet.  This series is gonna be GOOD.

High Score Girl - Gamers.  RIGHT HERE.  This is your anime.  Real video games show up having been licensed to appear by their devs.  Tips, tricks, and so forth get explained (In episode 1, they talk about Guile's turtling in Street Fighter II and the "alchemy" trick in Final Fight).  And in my opinion, Akira very well might have already become my pick for best girl of 2018 in terms of new shows that aren't sequels.  Waiting to see what way she's gonna beat up Haruo next is always fun, and oh, she gets HUGE bonus points from me for being a Zangief main.  I usually main grapplers in fighting games, so I find Akira to be VERY relatable.

As for prepping for Autumn 2018, which we now know that both A Certain Magical Index Season 3 AND JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5 (AKA Golden Wind, AKA Vento Aureo) are gonna be there.  Because of JoJo being over 100 episodes and Index being close to 100, I had to drop my plans to catch up on Phoenix Wright so that I could get caught up with both of those AND SAO, and JoJo is what I'm catching up on first.  After that, I'll move on to SAO and then Index and Railgun.  As for JoJo, I already got through the first 3 seasons and am a few episodes into Part 4 (AKA Diamond is Unbreakable).

One thing that I love about JoJo that I noticed most people don't mention is that the changes in the art's tone between each part is probably done intentionally as a sign of the changing times.  Granted, it's not too noticeable in transition from Part 1 (AKA Phantom Blood) to Part 2 (AKA Battle Tendency), but it is kinda noticeable from Part 2 to Part 3 (AKA Stardust Crusaders, AKA "the most iconic story in the franchise" which I can definitely see why; enjoyed the heck out of this one!), and DEFINITELY noticeable from Part 3 to Part 4.  Consider this; Part 3 takes place in 1988 and 1989 while Part 4 takes place in 1999 and 2000.  There's a 10 year timeskip there and I just LOVE that the look of the show changes to basically wag the fact that there was a big timeskip in your face.

But let's be real... JoJo is GOAT material.  :emot-smugdog:

Currently tracking the 3rd season of Boku no Hero Academia. It's fucking great so far.

Also am currently going to get into Overlord, especially since they got a third season airing right about now. Maybe also rewatch Ryo-Ohki 1 & 2.

I'm also hoping later I can hop back on to the tokusatsu train I abandoned for far too long with Kamen Rider Blade, Build, and Dekaranger. The last thing I watched was I think Ex-Aid and ToQger.

My name is WarOmnimon and I already approve of this guy right here.  :)  I seriously want to check out Kamen Rider Build when I finally get a breather from having to watch other stuff though; been hearing good things and as much as I want to check it out now, I have catching up to do for Autumn 2018 that is holding me up, and Autumn 2018 itself is a holdup because I'm watching quite a LOT there.

Anyway.  My thoughts in relates to my Summer 2018 watchlist so far (Not counting Super JoJo SAO Index Catchup Time)...

Academia Season 3 - Loving it.  Just as royce said.

High Score Girl - Like I said in my previous post, if you're a video game person, you NEED to watch this.

Grandblue - 3 episodes in, and yeah, the humor is just so over the top in so many random directions that it's crazy.  I'm getting a surprising kick out of it, and I'm seriously glad I picked it up.

Ultraman R/B - The general tone of R/B is a bit more upbeat than Orb and Geed were, but it's still just as enjoyable.  Albeit for different reasons.  To reference the Super Mario Bros. Super Show theme song, "you'll get hooked on the brothers" definitely applies here.

Okay, so this is a massive post; hopefully, everyone can keep up.

Leading up to the super stacked Autumn 2018 anime season (I will talk about those shows once that season starts and we get to start watching them), I've been watching My Hero Academia Season 3, Grand Blue Dreaming, High Score Girl, and Kamen Rider Zi-O (That started last week).  I've already spoken on Academia, Grand Blue, and HSG (All 3 are awesome).  As for Zi-O... it's basically everything Decade (Which is very similar in base concept to Zi-O; both are anniversary seasons for the Heisei Riders, and Decade, Zi-O, and Geiz's form changes are all based on previous Riders) wishes it could have been, albeit with time travel instead of world hopping.  As one person elsewhere said, Zi-O is basically trolling Decade and saying "I'm doing everything you did, but better".  Granted, Decade's flaws mostly stemmed from it being a shorter series, but still... a better series with the same base concept is still a better series with the same base concept.  :)

On the other hand, I unfortunately ended up dropping Ultraman R/B.  I was loving it, but the release for English subs hasn't been consistent at all.  *Shakes fist at Crunchyroll for NOT licensing R/B even though they licensed Orb and Geed*

As for catchup.  Fully caught up on Sword Art Online (GAAAH, that second half of Season 1 was just SOOOOO cringy; I can see why people hate on it, thank goodness Season 2 stepped back a bit on doing stuff like that so frequently!) in preparation fo Alicization and am also caught up on as much as I need to be for JoJo (Watched all of Parts 1 to 3 and most of Part 4).  Unfortunately, with Index and Railgun being almost 100 episodes put together, I don't have time to catch up on it now that I'm watching 4 shows at once (Admittedly, I'm behind on both Grand Blue and HSG), and I didn't start catchup yet... so yeah, had to drop Index Season 3 from my Autumn 2018 watchlist.  I'm also catching up on Kamen Rider Build, and have watched 31 episodes out of 49 so far, so I'm almost done.  I'm also going to play catchup with Senran Kagura Season 1 before Season 2 kicks off in Autumn 2018, which should be VERY easy (Only 12 episodes; MUCH easier and actually possible to finish with this little time than Index and Railgun's almost 100).  I have also been watching Hajime no Ippo here and there whenever I get a moment where I'm NOT catching up on other stuff, current or not; if you want to blame something for me jumping into Ippo, blame how awesome Megalobox was.

Gonna close it out with some bullet point lists for stuff I'll be watching for various reasons at various times...

My Autumn 2018 anime season checklist
-JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind (JoJo Part 5)
-Sword Art Online: Alicization
-Goblin Slayer
-Golden Kamuy Season 2
-Senran Kagura Season 2
-Release the Spyce
-Hinomaruzumou
-Fist of the Blue Sky Season 2
-SSSS Gridman
-Kamen Rider Zi-O (Yes, it's tokusatsu and not anime, but I'm still putting it here as I always do)
-My Hero Academia: Two Heroes
-Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Older stuff that I want to catch up on or rewatch and am doing so right now
-Kamen Rider Build (Almost done here, starting Unlimited Blade Works afterward)
-Hajime no Ippo

Older stuff that I want to catch up on or rewatch but won't do so until the Autumn 2018 season
-Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (Gonna start this after finishing Build)
-Kamen Rider Gaim (Very likely that I'll start watching Gaim at some point after finishing Fate)
-Mobile Fighter G Gundam (Been meaning to rewatch this for a while now, actually)
-Comic Party & Comic Party Revolution (Same deal as with G Gundam)

I'd put the usual goofy speech about a wall of text doing overkill damage here... but I'm leaving for breakfast shortly, so NAAAAH.  Not this time.  :P

Alright, so the Summer 2018 anime season has come to a close and we're gonna get some REALLY good stuff soon (I already noted what I'm watching in the previous post).  Figured that I'd give closing thoughts on this season and also talk a bit about Kamen Rider Zi-O.

First, My Hero Academia Season 3.  Yeah, that ending was literally a non-ending, but at least the final episode ended with confirmation of a Season 4, which means we won't be waiting TOO long to continue this awesome roller coaster ride.  This is the same thing that Golden Kamuy Season 1 did (Season 2 was confirmed at the end of Season 1's finale and they even noted that it would be in October), something that I REALLY appreciate was stuck out there immediately.  Someone elsewhere noted Academia as being like Dragon Ball and Naruto, but without the filler.  That's definitely accurate; Academia being a seasonal anime and not just ongoing REALLY helps with this IMO.  As for Grand Blue Dreaming... admittedly, I still have to watch the last 5 episodes.  Probably going to do that in a marathon or something.

Now, about Kamen Rider Zi-O.  I like how Zi-O has basically been taking what Kamen Rider Decade did and doing it better... ESPECIALLY the story.  It's the ultimate tribute, but at the same time the ultimate "take that!".  The time travel aspect actually leads to a better take on a story with the same idea as Decade's, which was alternate world hopping based rather than time travel based.

I watched all of Sunohara-sou no Kanrinin-san over the last couple of weeks. This was the first anime I've watched in a while. I really enjoyed it, it reminded me of all the shitty harem anime I watched when I was first getting into anime.

I also plan on watching the Conception anime this season.
Title: Re: What Anime are you currently watching?

One Outs - I rewatched One Outs a little while ago. Tokuchi is a great main character. I love seeing how everyone is dancing around in the palm of his hand.

Conception - I planned on watching it because I enjoyed the Conception 2 game, but I didn't have high hopes because it was trying to cram a 40 hour rpg with 12 heroines into 12 episodes. It actually turned out pretty fun somehow. It was definitely a rushed mess like I expected, but they made it work somehow. I'm surprised they went for the harem ending though. I would have thought they would have went with the cousin route.

Kyou Kara Ore Wa!! - This was a live-action adaptation of the manga, but I'm putting it here anyway. I don't watch many J-dramas, but I really enjoyed this one. Kyou Kara Ore Wa!! is my favorite manga, so I was likely going to enjoy this show from the start. I definitely have a lot of complaints, like how they pretty much butchered the Akehisa invasion arc, but with it being only 10 episodes it managed to be pretty great. I do wish Nakano was in it though.

I am currently watching Slayers. I bought the boxset when Funimation released it a while back. It has the first three seasons. Now when I first watched this series it was owned my a now defuct company. I borrowed it from a library that had all the first season. I also used to rent the slayers movie back when blockbuster was a thing. Lately I have been trying to track down all the anime in the franchise and I have to say it is getting annoying the movies and ovas are currently not liscenced over here and Funimation has only gotten rights to the first five seasons which only the last two can be obtained as blueray. That being said the first three seasons the have the gall to sell for 45 dollars on a low quality cut of the show which has been around since it was first released on DVD years ago. I mean like it has to be at least 15 years or older.

Kind of a lull period for current anime right now, so I've been going back to watch some stuff I missed previously.  Currently, I'm spending most of my time watching One Punch Man (To prepare for Season 2 in April of course) and Hajime no Ippo.  It'll obviously take me a while to get through the latter, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it (Remember, Megalobox is my personal non-sequel anime of the year for 2018, so it's no surprise that I'm enjoying the heck out of Ippo).  And in addition to that, I also have to catch up on literally everything for Senki Zesshou Symphogear in preparation for Symphogear XV in July.  That, and I'm also jumping into everything Lyrical Nanoha just in case they do something big for its 15th anniversary this year (Watch, they're probably gonna announce something big on Friday because that's Nanoha's birthday, LOL).

As for what I was previously watching but am currently taking a break from; Hinomaru Sumo, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, and Sword Art Online: Alicization, all 3 of which I have already started.  I'm getting back to them, but only once they finish airing (Because yeah, preparation for OPM Season 2 and Symphogear XV).  Darnit 2019, why is your sequel hype tech too strong?  I was seriously enjoying Hinomaru Sumo and JoJo especially, gosh darnit!

And yeah, while not anime... I'm still watching Kamen Rider Zi-O, no surprise there.

Mostly because the first 2 anime seasons of this year have been mostly a dry spell for me (In fact, the only thing I was watching in either season was One Punch Man Season 2, which I paused in the middle of watching due to IRL stuffs... and then there's Kamen Rider Zi-O which is literally alongside video games the reason why I've been able to coast through these two seasons, LOL), I got caught up on Symphogear in preparation for Symphogear XV (Season 5) in July (And by the way, this year's 3rd anime season is looking MUCH better than the first 2).  I have watched all 4 seasons as of this past Saturday when I marathoned Symphogear AXZ (Season 4) to ensure that I wouldn't have to try and play catchup during SGDQ.

And oh, regardless of which of the 6 main heroines of the series you think is the best girl, something is wrong with you if you're not at least rooting for all of them.  Personally, I think Tsubasa is best girl, but the heroines are all awesome as far as I'm concerned.  :emot-smugdog:

Because of the tragedy last month at Kyoto Animation's studio, I have tried purchasing or resubbing to anime platforms that have their shows. Just rewatched In a Silent Voice, and got really into Hyouka.

As big as the list of what I was watching in Summer 2019 was, my watchlist for Autumn 2019 is even bigger.

•Azur Lane
•Beastars
•Kemono Michi: Rise Up
•After School Dice Club
•My Hero Academia Season 4 (PLUS ULTRA ;) )
•Dr. Stone (Continued from Summer 2019)
•Vinland Saga (Also continued from Summer 2019)

I also want to check out Mairimashita! Iruma-kun, but I'm not sure if that one was picked up for official subs or not yet.  I am also in the midst of watching through Ojamajo Doremi, hopefully finishing in time for Searching For Witchlings next year.

Quote from: Ryo-Okay on August 19, 2019, 10:02:15 AMI finally started watching Appmon. This show has a pretty bad reputation, but I'm halfway through and it has been pretty good.

I know, right?  I watched Appmon from start to finish as it ran and enjoyed it, and had no complaints (Especially given that everything important gets explained by the end).  It also has one of my favorite endgames in any season of the Digimon anime.  :)
Without spoiling actual storyline details, I will at least say that the God grade Appmon are referred to as Gods for a REASON; they're just plain epic.
Also... thank you, Symphogear.  Gosh darnit, that series had an AMAZING 5 season run over 8 years.  Quality over quantity and just pure consistent awesomeness from start to finish; I'm gonna miss it potentially showing up in the seasonal anime lineups.  I'm officially recommending it to everyone here; it's 5 seasons long (Symphogear XV's final episode even ends with text confirming that it was the franchise's final episode) and every season is one cour (12 to 13 episodes), so it won't take nearly as much time to watch as some other anime... but the time spent to check it out will be worth it.

I finished Appmon a while ago. It was starting to lose me by the end, but it was still alright. Digimon really needs to ditch the 50 episode format though. I also watched Labyrinth of Flames, which was a two episode OVA. It was alright, but there was no labyrinth in it anywhere.

I'm actually watching a couple of shows this season, which I haven't done in a while. I'm watching Mairimashita! Iruma-kun because I enjoy the manga. I also watched the first two episodes of Kemono Michi on a whim, and that show is dumb as hell. I can't wait to watch more.

QuoteDigimon really needs to ditch the 50 episode format though.

You're looking at 410 episodes subbed and dubbed!  :yoshi:  The thing that broke Digimon for a lot of viewers was the original character designer quitting Toei. They had to ultimately change up the character and animation styles a few years back.

They actually got the original designer for Adventure back for Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, which unlike tri. is going to be only one movie, is confirmed to be the last thing they do for Adventure (Along with the little shorts they're doing to go with Kizuna), and actually looks like it will be at least decent.  Shame that Kizuna won't be able to plug up all the new plotholes tri. opened, which is why people are hating on it before it even comes out... still, I'm going to watch it with an open mind and at least I'll go in knowing that it'll at least be better than tri.

Anyway, on that subject.  Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time (Which if dubbed would have been Season 3 of Digimon Fusion) and Digimon Adventure tri., I didn't like; as everyone here knows, I've been VERY vocal about how much I dislike tri., and most of the sensible side of the Digimon fanbase has been as well.  I will get to Young Hunters shortly, but aside from that and tri., I like pretty much everything else that Digimon has offered on the anime side, albeit to varying degrees.

I'd definitely say that Digimon Tamers (Season 3), Digimon Savers (Data Squad), and Digimon Xros Wars (Digimon Fusion) are the diamonds in the rough for Digimon anime, each one for different reasons.  Tamers and Savers have the best stories, and Xros Wars has the coolest fight sequences.  But yes... if you watch Xros Wars, stay FAR away from Young Hunters.  It's literally an entire half season of filler that even the teamup with all the previous main protagonists at the end doesn't save from being a dumpster fire (Not as bad as tri., but it's still a dumpster fire).  Granted, Young Hunters only happened because Toei needed more time to finish Saint Seiya Omega... but it still doesn't excuse it from being a dumpster fire.  I will admit that Gumdramon (And his Digivolved form Arresterdramon) are awesome and that I'm so glad they kept him around to include in other stuff (He's even raisable in Digimon World: Next 0rder).

One more thing... if you haven't watched Digital Monster X-evolution, DO IT.  It's CGI and it's only Digimon (No humans), but my word, the story is just awesome, the way everyone fits into the story is just great... and yes, it's worth watching to see all of those X Antibody Digimon and hear Hideyuki Tanaka's portrayal of Omnimon ALONE.
BTW, that Omnimon becomes Omnimon X by the end of the movie.  What happens next is so cool that I'm not gonna mention it even in a spoiler tag.
Title: Re: What Anime are you currently watching?

Dang... this next anime season is gonna be really empty. So many sequels that I'm not caught up for and not much variety outside of the sequels (I mean, TWO baseball anime, and one of them is one of the sequels I mentioned? COME ON NOW!). About the only thing I'm watching for seasonal anime this season is Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 (Which I am caught up for and will be checking out). Aside from Digimon Adventure: (Not a seasonal anime, but I'll get to that in a moment), the only way this season will have anything else for me is if Tomica Kizuna Gattai Earth Granner gets subbed.

Outside of seasonal anime, I'm also going to be watching Digimon Adventure: (Doing a reboot was the right thing to do, especially given that Digimon Adventure tri. left too many plotholes open in the original timeline that will never be resolved; I am hearing that Last Evolution Kizuna turned out to be good which I was hoping for, but sadly it didn't retcon tri. in the process), and will be continuing to watch Kamen Rider Zero-One and Mashin Sentai Kiramager (Those are toku, but still). And of course, Tenchi OVA 5 episode 2. Hopefully something gets announced for the Summer 2020 anime season aside from what's there now, because if not... I'm gonna have to rely entirely on Adventure:, Zero-One, Kiramager, and Tenchi OVA 5 episode 3.

Also... that cliffhanger ending to Magia Record: Madoka Magica Gaiden Season 1 HURT. Most unfair cliffhanger ending / sequel hook to an anime I've EVER seen, even by Madoka Magica standards (At least the original series didn't have an unfair cliffhanger before a break like that!). The cliffhanger ending to Mairimashita! Iruma-kun's Season 1 was also unfair, but nowhere near as unfair as Magia Record (Iruma-kun's cliffhanger was a character based plot twist, while Magia Record's cliffhanger is like "WHERE DO THEY EVEN GO FROM HERE?" given that they actually dared to leave the main protagonist's fate at the end of the season's final episode uncertain). At least we know when Iruma-kun Season 2 is going to air. Not so much for Magia Record Season 2...

...but hey, at least Autumn 2020 is when the Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken reboot is airing, and that's something that I'm definitely checking out. :)

So, it's official. Even compared to 2018 and 2019, this really doesn't seem to be my year for anime. Save for Digimon Adventure:, Tenchi Muyo! OVA 5, and Kaguya-sama Love Is War Season 2, pretty much everything is sequels that I'm not caught up for, or new stuff that just didn't grab my attention... I mean, come on. At least the sequels in 2018 and 2019 included several sequels that I was actually caught up on and ready for, and the new stuff in those years actually had my attention. The fact that Dr. Stone: Stone Wars and Cells at Work! Season 2 (Both of which I'm caught up on and am ready for) aren't coming until 2021 basically reinforces that. The only other anime I'll even be paying attention to aside from Digimon and Tenchi for the rest of 2020 is the Dragon Quest: Adventure of Dai reboot... unless by some crazy miracle we actually get My Hero Academia Season 5 and / or Kantai Collection Season 2 (Both of which have been confirmed already) outta nowhere in the Autumn 2020 season... but given a certain pandemic that held things up for a while, I doubt it. In short, this year is all about the tokusatsu on my end, meaning that Digimon, Tenchi, Kamen Rider Zero-One (Which will end in August and be replaced by Kamen Rider Saber in September), Mashin Sentai Kiramager, and Ultraman Z literally have to carry the rest of the year (At least until Adventure of Dai starts up, LOL).

Ah, well... at least I know that Winter 2021 has two sequels that I'm ready for, and at least I know that an anime adaptation of THE iDOLM@STER: Million Live! is finally happening (Hence my avatar change). Which reminds me, I need to finish the final stretch of episodes from the first iM@S anime that I haven't gotten to yet (I only have the endgame last I checked) as well as the movie; for those unaware, this is because Million Live! is a direct sequel to the main story unlike Cinderella Girls and SideM.

May as well take advantage of the anime drought to play catch up. :)

Title: Re: What Anime are you currently watching?

Finally, an anime season not mostly comprised of sequels that I'm not ready for or new stuff that just didn't catch my eye! :) Here's what I'm watching this season...

•Dragon Quest: Adventure of Dai
•Hanyo no Yashahime (Though being a sequel to Inuyasha, this one might end up not being a seasonal anime)
•Love Live! Nijigasaki School Idol Club (On which note, tough to choose best girl; I had the same problem with Sunshine!! TBH)

Compare that list to the other anime seasons this year, which had almost nothing for me. Everything I was interested in save for Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 and Magia Record: Madoka Magica Gaiden (The only two seasonal anime I watched this year aside from the above, with the former being the only sequel this year that I was actually ready for) was all sequels that I wasn't ready for (Blame IRL circumstances in 2018 and 2019 that are no longer a factor anymore for preventing me from playing catch-up in time; sadly, the damage was already done). It's the reason why I was hit a bit too close to home when the COVID-19 pandemic caused Digimon Adventure:, Kamen Rider Zero-One, and Mashin Sentai Kiramager to go on hiatus. Not only was Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 almost done by then, but Ultraman Z started up right when those shows returned.

As for stuff that isn't seasonal...

•Digimon Adventure:
•Kamen Rider Saber (This one's toku, but I'm listing it for consistency reasons)
•Tenchi Muyo! OVA 5 (We don't get episodes for a few months at a time, but I'm also listing it for consistency reasons)
•Ultraman Z (See Kamen Rider Saber; this one's almost over BTW)

I've officially dropped the aforementioned Kiramager, because I was a couple of episodes behind... and then a certain announcement frustrated me to no end at the very beginning of the month which threw me even more off course (*COUGHSTEVEINSMASHCOUGH*). Shame because I was enjoying the heck out of it. Definitely checking out Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger once that starts, though.

^ When a show looks interesting on paper and then it turns out to be bad. Don't feel like falling for that, LOL. It's too true about the new stuff that comes up in the seasonal lineups as of late. This is exactly why I'm not too keen on checking out new stuff in the seasonal anime lineups unless I've heard good things about the source material and / or the fanbases feel that the anime adaptation nailed it. This logic led to me checking out the first seasons of shows such as Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun! Dr. Stone, and Cells at Work! as they aired (And good thing I did, because I enjoyed all three of those and can't wait for their second seasons this coming year), and is also why I plan on checking out Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! at some point.

I've stalled out on Ai Tenchi Muyo, but I'll try to finish it soon. I think I only have about 15 episodes left.

I started the Okaa-san Online anime. It's okay, but JC Staff have been cutting a lot of corners with it.

I also watched quite a bit of Ahiru no Sora. I wanted a fun sports show, but the drama has been really off putting. I probably won't end up finishing it.

I haven't been feeling great lately, exhausted, a bit disoriented... almost matches "post-covid" symptoms... if they weren't also the same chronic exhaustion problems that I've been having off and on for 3 years.

So,  I needed something easy to digest that I could watch in bed. So I'm going through Working! aka Wagnaria!.

I bought the 3rd season last year when it was going out-of-print, finally watching them (saw them streaming, of course)

The wiki stuff keeps my mind running and is zero stress (but not wanting to take on actual responsibilities may explain my lack of interest in moderation/Admin duties for it). It's what I do when I am sleepy (and hopefully it doesn't show too much).

And as I say, I've had this for 3 years without a proper diagnosis. I take some depression medicine and it may help some, although I don't really fit a depression diagnosis either, but if I forget to take it, I tend to feel more tired. I need to get a proper sleep study done, but don't feel excited about sleeping in a lab overnight these days and keep putting it off.

Into season 3 now. Seeing Takanashi coping with the fact that he might have feelings for some "old" is hilarious.

"Nazuna, do you think I'm a masochist?"
"...aren't you?"

I think that medicine against depression tends to have unintended side effects. I was overmedicated to the point of severe psychosis several years ago.

The best medicine is likely 30+ minutes of sweat-creating exercise at least 3 times a week combined with taking some Melatonine sleep hormones an hour before you go to bed.

I started and got caught up with Pokemon (2019). It's been enjoyable so far, but I'm not as big a fan of the current format. They ditched having Ash travel a single region and instead have him travel around all the regions. Even though the old show was episodic they were always moving to their next important destination. The new show is just episodic with many episodes feeling irrelevant.

Currently watching, toku included and Tenchi Muyo! OVA 5's final episode notwithstanding (Of course I'm watching that when it comes out)...

•Digimon Adventure:. It has a simpler story than the other seasons to be honest, but the changes to character traits with the Digidestined are pretty good. I'm really liking the new take on Mimi, seeing a lot of the alternate Digivolutions and more recently introduced Digimon has been awesome, and I love how they've been using some of the new Digimon to fill out Digivolution lines (Argomon's Fresh to Champion forms, Eyesmon, Nidhoggmon, DoneDevimon, Potamon, and RareRaremon come to mind in regards to this). If you want mostly good fights and not as much of a plot as usual (Like Fusion), this season definitely provides that.
•Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, the 45th anniversary season of Super Sentai. It's to the mecha what Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger was to the Rangers, and it's so good. Gaon is probably my favorite of the core team.
•My Hero Academia Season 5, goes without saying given that I watched the first 4 seasons.
•Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 2, goes without saying given that I watched the first season.
•Nomad: Megalo Box 2, goes without saying... you get the idea.
•SSSS.Dynazenon, which like SSSS.Gridman was for 2018 is already in fierce contention for my favorite anime this year.

As for what I know I'll be watching when it begins and is confirmed to be coming up...

•Ultraman Trigger, sequel to Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Dyna. It even features a new iteration of GUTS; if that doesn't scream "sequel", I don't know what does. Confirmed for July 2021.
•Kamen Rider Black Sun, reboot of Kamen Rider Black. I am stoked for this. Confirmed for 2022.
•Futo Detectives, anime sequel of Kamen Rider W. I am also stoked for this. Also confirmed for 2022.
•Love Live! Superstar!!. Confirmed for Summer 2021.
•Muv-Luv Alternative. On which note, this is the only Autumn 2021 anime that has my attention and isn't a sequel that I'm not caught up for yet. Meaning that Muv-Luv, Zenkaiger, and Ultraman Trigger (And potentially the season of Kamen Rider after Saber) are gonna have to carry me through Autumn 2021 singlehandedly unless something else gets announced. I didn't mention Digimon Adventure: because that will be over by this point. So... *Crosses fingers that Million Live! suddenly pops up in the Autumn 2021 anime season*
•THE iDOLM@STER Million Live! (And speaking of which, LOL). Which reminds me... I need to watch the last couple of episodes of the original series given that unlike Cinderella Girls and SideM, Million Live! is a straight sequel. Currently not dated, but confirmed to be happening.
•Kantai Collection Season 2. Completely different story and set of protagonists than Season 1 and the movie, on which note (It's confirmed that Shigure will be the main heroine this time, not Fubuki). Confirmed for 2022.

Several of the other sequels and spinoffs coming up would also be on my radar, but I'm not caught up for those yet. And the fact that Netflix got Edens Zero and the Shaman King reboot (Which means Netflix is holding them hostage until they're ready to do a batch release like they always do) effectively took them off my radar.

And oh... Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Season 2, The iDOLM@STER Shiny Colors anime, and High School DxD Season 5 when?

I still almost exclusively watch anime. So, no Disney+, regular TV is largely forgotten.

I try out a bunch before whittling them down. We'll see what actually gets watched

Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro
-The bullying aspect is a bit uncomfortable, but they're showing how it's not quite what it seems
Farewell, My Dear Cramer
-Non-sexualized girls playing sports! Good characters... the issue is that I don't like Soccer
Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway
-meh, slightly curious how this turns out. It has little things you don't often see
I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level
-Nothing really happens in this isekai show, I may have already dropped this, It's still in my queue but I don't see my self returning.
Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House
-Cute characters, curious peek into Maiko world... but not much of a story to hook a watcher... I'm already an episode or two behind, may not get back to it
Koikimo
-Some are uncomfortable with what they see as an older guy "stalking" a teen girl he likes. I think it can redeem itself as an odd couple romcom.
Odd Taxi
-really intriguing premise that gives you the idea that the MC is the only one who sees everyone as anthropomorphic animals, but intentionally slow and diologue driven. Maybe to wide of a cast
Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won't Lose
-evidently because all of the romantic interests are childhood friends of some sort. It's kinda a typical wacky highschool romcom with a screaming MC. Some hints at a decent back story.
Pretty Boy Detective Club
-A SHAFT, Nisiosin joint. talking/visuals/subtle symbolism using anime tropes, A little bit of an Ouran flavor to it
The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent
-Could be great, a smart, slightly older girl isekei MC. But apparently it's really taking out a lot of content from the novels.
The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
-If you want to forget, for a while, that Slimey massacred 20,000 people, half of whom had given up... then here's a side story about farming and fun and everyone is also just so dang nice.
Super Cub
-Sort of a healing anime about a cute girl who gains friends after getting a Honda Super Cub, but the depth of the MC's depression and resignation to an empty life is pretty extreme. Not really a CGDCT show

HIGHLIGHTS:
Those Snow White Notes
-Jammin' on a Shamisen show. Good characters, a sort of red herring intro where you think you're getting one cast of young adults but quickly dumps them and gives you a show centered around a high school club after all.
To Your Eternity
-A Silent Voice writer wants to make you cry more with a sort of metaphysical twist where a "God" drops an immortal being into a world where he has to evolve from a rock, to moss, to a wolf, to a human and learn about humanity, presumably over eons of time. So far the theme seems to heavily rely on children dying.
Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song
Sci-Fi show in which an AI travels back 100 years to instruct an android on how to change a future in which the androids of the future massacre all of humanity. She's just a nice android who wants to fulfill her programming to "bring happiness to humans by singing"- but is convinced she can't fulfill her program if all the humans are dead. The AI (using a Teddy Bear body) activates his program every few years to help her fulfill a task at a "singularity moment" that apparently leads to the future calamity.

Continuing:
Hero Academia
I'm a Spider, So What
-It's got issues, the split timelines are annoying. Bad guys are sneering sadists or simple monsters and I don't care much about the other cast. World-building is confusing.
Detective Conan
-As Always. I've watched 1000+ of these episodes, Am I supposed to just stop now?

Still watching the same shows as before except for Zenkaiger. Toei basically pulled the plug on fansubs for Kamen Rider and Super Sentai recently, which in relates to Kamen Rider isn't necessarily bad if they start releasing the official subs more consistently (And they'd better)... but that's bad for Super Sentai, because Toei can't release official subs in the west even if they wanted to because Hasbro is blocking them using the Power Rangers license (Which means Hasbro has basically become Super Harmony Gold II Turbo). Which frustrates me to no end because I was enjoying the heck out of Zenkaiger.

This is very bad news for the Autumn 2021 anime season on my end, because now Muv-Luv Alternative and the second half of Ultraman Trigger have to carry that entire season for me. Everything else I'm interested in for that season is all sequels that I'm not caught up for. Even whatever season of Kamen Rider comes up after Saber wouldn't bail me out because yeah, no subs. This also means that if there's nothing for me in Winter 2022 (Whether it doesn't have anything I'm interested in or it's all sequels I'm not caught up for), I'm going to have nothing... and unlike previous anime seasons that had nothing for me, I won't have Kamen Rider and / or Super Sentai to bail me out anymore (Ultraman only runs during the second half of each year; the first half of the year Ultraman always does a glorified recap season), which means I'll have a serious problem.

I'm gonna be selfish just this once and hope, pray, and everything else in between that THE iDOLM@STER Million Live! drops during either Autumn 2021 or Winter 2022... because if not, 2022 is going to be off to a boring start for me. And because next year is both Digimon and Tenchi's anniversary year... no thanks, I don't want any of that noise right out the gate.

So... what have I actually finished by the end of the season? Mainly the easy watches.

Forgot to mention:
Fruit Baskets: Final
They cut one big story out, which upset people... but apparently they're creating an entire separate prequel series about Tohru's parents... which is odd.

Those Snow White Notes
The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime I think I may try a quick run-through of the first season before the second half of the 2nd proper show restarts.
Koikimo - Harmless
Hero Academia - up to this point
D. Conan

Close to finishing:
Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro -Mostly harmless, but repetitive
Super Cub

Stopped because I realized I'd rather marathon:
Odd Taxi
To Your Eternity
Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song

The rest will probably languish in my queue... maybe finishing. "Spider" was a bit of a disappointment- once they switched the focus to the "human" side, I really started to lose interest.

Ranma 1/2 currently. Never finished teh series lol.

This is an interesting anime, with a cool and unique concept, especially the design of the main protagonist, 早乙女 乱馬 Ranma Saotome. Btw, Ryoko made a brief cameo (https://postimg.cc/34HTJ60c) in one of the episodes before the release of the TM OVA series. There is a thread about it here (https://www.uselesstenchi.org/Forum/index.php?topic=1461.msg49237).

I'm watching Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995), recommended by WaitoKon. I'm really enjoying it.

Of course... Ranma was never actually "completed" - you'll need to search out the manga to get the last big storyline...but even then, you don't get a complete resolution of the rom-com story.

Kind of funny, last season I started watching too much and am still catching up. This time, not a single original series caught my eye... although I still haven't tried the one about the idol working at an aquarium, that may be worth watching. So now it's only  sequels and continuing.

Slime
Hero Academia
All routes lead to doom
K's Dragon Maid
Irregular side story
The never-ending Detective Conan

Actually, once again trying to watch Tenchi Universe through* again. Last attempt  was probably over 5 years ago. All apologies, but certain aspects (i.e. "wacky shenanigans")  just drive be batty.

I skipped time and space adventures this time*- and plan on jumping through that one where they're all starving and Ryoko goes of to save them and retrieve food... but wastes all the money, gorges herself on food and alcohol, and lets them go on starving before leading the bad guys to everyone. Meanwhile Mihoshi "hilariously" keeps sabotaging Washu's repair efforts.
Ha Ha, they're all stranded and starving and Ryoko's a bitch... That's where I decided to "take a break" the last time.
I haven't actually finished a run-through in over a dozen years.
[edit] Finished it... it really is white label generic Tenchi, isn't it? Lots of filler, no explanation. "Jurai Power" eh? That's some awesome Jurai power you got there... Kagato gots Dark Jurai Power, Ayeka suddenly gets some.... BTW- who is emperor after Kagato is "defeated"?... probably a thread above to talk about it, just can't bother. But at least now I can watch the movies and get back to reading the manga (which shoehorns in an adaptation) without struggling to remember the details.

I'm watching the anime Horimiya 2021 right now. From the first minutes of the anime, you are very interested in the characters' relationships, and the characters here are fascinating. In this anime, the main characters are high school students Izumi Miyamura and Kyoko Hori. Kyoko Hori is an ordinary high school girl who is kind and helpful and lives with her mother and younger brother. At the same time, Izumi is her classmate who seems gloomy and uncommunicative. The anime has excellent drawings and exciting romance. There is also a fair amount of humor. This anime is easily watchable in a single breath. This anime is short enough for only 12 episodes, 24 minutes each. I liked it very much, and it's a great everyday anime about relationships between high school kids. You can watch it at https://mrkissanime.com/.

I finished the second season of Reincarnated as a Slime. The first half was pretty fun, but the second half was a drag.

I also have been rewatching Natsume's Book of Friends. I watched the first 5 seasons over a couple of weeks, so I should be done with season 6 in the next few days. I somehow missed that a movie released a couple of years ago, so I'm looking forward to watching that after I finish the show.

New season looks pretty weak. My Dress-Up Darling looks to be a decent otaku teen romance (cosplay girl and a lonely apprentice Hina Doll maker). Akebi's Sailor Uniform [and Foot Fetish Happy Time] may be alright but it may give you tonal whiplash. There are many many run of the mill isekai again but very little that stands out in regular streaming. Netflix will eventually drop all 6(?) episodes of Orbital Children, the loooong overdue next work from the creator of the excellent Dennou Coil.

Then there's some sequels. If you watched AoT then you've got one last political vorefest to relish in.
I'm likely to watch the Princess Connect sequel. It certainly isn't essential watching, but watching potato-kun getting dragged away by wolves is always worth a laugh.

^ Pretty much this. If you aren't caught up for the sequels (I certainly am not caught up for neither Attack on Titan nor Princess Connect!), this is pretty much the weakest anime season all year. From what we know so far, though, the other 3 seasons this year are looking better and, quite frankly, have more sequels for stuff that I'm actually caught up on. :) But for now, it's just Digimon Ghost Game (Which isn't a seasonal anime but I'm still noting it anyway because it's basically my Get Out of Jail Free card right now, LOL; and yes, Gammamon is best boy) and Miss Kuroitsu From the Monster Development Department (Which is a huge love letter to tokusatsu and which I'm watching because I'm a toku nut and not afraid to admit it; only two episodes currently in because the second episode got delayed by the recent tsunami warning) for me.

The other seasons this year are all confirmed to have at least one sequel I'm caught up for. Spring 2022 has both Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Season 2 and Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 (I need to finish Season 1 of Komi, but I'm loving it so far; it's just so gosh darn endearing), Summer 2022 has Utawareumono: The Two Hakuoros (Sequel to The False Faces obviously), and Autumn 2022 has Kantai Collection Season 2 (Though from my understanding it's more of a clean slate than an actual sequel, complete with the main protagonist being changed from Fubuki to Shigure). I'm also waiting for Spy x Family and Fuuto PI (The latter of which is a sequel to Kamen Rider W on which note; an anime sequel to a toku, the last time that happened was SSSS Gridman), My Hero Academia Season 6 is likely to be somewhere in there (Though we don't know WHEN yet), and my fingers are of course crossed for THE iDOLM@STER Million Live! (Announced in 2020) to pop up before the year is over. As far as anime movies go, my eyes are on SSSS Gridman X SSSS Dynazenon, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (Department of Redundancy Department title I know, but I'm still looking forward to it), and whatever the new movie for Digimon Adventure 02 will be called (It only has a tentative title right now). The premise of this one actually sounds interesting; it's not "the old heroes are back for one more go" like it was in tri. and Last Evolution Kizuna (tri. was a steaming mess, but Kizuna OTOH, while it wasn't the best thing in the world, actually wasn't that bad at all), but rather "Davis and Veemon meet the first man to ever have a partner Digimon", so I'm very curious to hear more about it.

On the tokusatsu side of things, I'm waiting for Avataro Sentai Donbrothers to start up, which based on what we know is going to continue Super Sentai's 45th anniversary into a second year to the point where Zenkaizer and ZenkaiZyuran are even sticking around! Fell behind on both Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger (Speaking of which...) and Kamen Rider Revice unintentionally (Mostly because so much had me distracted on the side; I did manage to get pretty far into Zenkaiger though), which is a shame because I was enjoying both of those. On the other hand, I legitimately dropped Ultraman Trigger not too far in because 1. They did 2 recap episodes in a row after only 4 episodes (And oh, a third recap episode came up later; given that the fans agree that Trigger wasn't all that great combined with there being 25 episodes not counting the 3 recaps, I'd say that's completely unacceptable), and 2. It wasn't nearly as good as Ultraman Z (Which is awesome BTW; if you haven't watched a season of Ultraman yet and are looking to get into the franchise, watch Ultraman Z right now; it's GOOOOOOOOOD) and is often noted as the weakest season of Ultraman in a while. And I agree; I dropped it after 2 or 3 episodes, after all. Ultraman Decker has some serious damage control to do, sadly... oh, there's also Kamen Rider Black Sun. Can't wait for that especially!

TLDR Weak season now, yes, but the rest of this year is looking more active for me watching anime than 2019 to 2021 were, during which I had to rely on the toku I was watching plus Digimon Adventure: as Get Out of Jail Free cards. Might be my most active anime year since 2018 (Which was filled with stuff that I was interested in, with plenty of sequels that I was ready for just like this year looks to be). Helmet on, buckled up, and rocket cycle ready to go. :)

Action fans are going to hate this season, but my cup runneth over.

Really, probably going to have to drop shows I would have been happy to watch last season just because too much good stuff is already playing and I need time for other stuff.

Sequels:
Kaguya-Sama: Love is War
Ascendance of a Bookworm
Science Fell in Love
(might drop- the show is no masterpiece and the first "experiment" was annoying

New:
SpyXFamily
Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie
Dance Dance Danseur
(Surprising one- interesting take on battling Toxic masculinity- Ballet by way of Martial Art training with shojo boy faces)
Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness
Aharen-san wa Hakarenai
The Executioner and her Way of Life

probably dropping- but not really bad:
RPG Real Estate
The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody
Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for a Mob
BIRDIE WING -Golf Girls' Story
Tiger & Bunny 2
I'm Quitting Heroing
Ya Boy Kongming!
(actually haven't watched, only just saw a  review that named this a "must-watch" along SpyXFamily)

The only one of the maybes I've definitely dropped for good is RPG Real Estate. It seemed like it could be a sweet little nothing CGDCT show with a slightly silly premise. Order a Rabbit with mages and a loose "finding houses" shtick, but the second episode was beyond stupid and the girls aren't really all cute; they're just tropes with premade faces that spout the same big boob/small boob and yuri jokes.

As I noted before, the rest of 2022 is a lot busier than the Winter 2022 anime season for me; I coasted through the entire Winter 2022 season with just Digimon Ghost Game and then BOOM, the Toei hack happened and I was jonesing for the rest of the season because 1. Ghost Game didn't come back until the Spring 2022 anime season started and 2. I fell so far behind on Kamen Rider Revice and never got started with Avataro Sentai Donbrothers which means I couldn't fall back on toku.

For this current Spring 2022 anime season, I'm watching Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, and Spy X Family. We recently also got confirmation that Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros (AKA Mask of Truth), which will begin in the Summer 2022 anime season, will be two cours, and I've been caught up for that since it was announced. As for the Autumn 2022 anime season, Kantai Collection Season 2 is on my to-watch list as well even though it won't start until later in the season and will be a shorter show. I am okay with a quality over quantity approach, especially if it means we won't get much filler.

Other anime that I have my eyes on in the remaining seasons and beyond aside from the aforementioned Utawarerumono and Kancolle...

Summer 2022: Fuuto PI (This is a sequel to Kamen Rider W; an anime sequel to a tokusatsu, how about that? :) ), Kinsou no Vermeil
Autumn 2022: My Hero Academia Season 6, Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 3, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Spy X Family Part 2
2022 (Exact timing unclear): RWBY: Ice Queendom
Others: Chainsaw Man, Dr. Stone Season 3, THE iDOLM@STER Million Live! (Recently confirmed for 2023), THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: U149 (Which means we're likely getting an iM@S double whammy next year)

Also... *Looks at Million Live and Cinderella Girls U149* Shiny Colors anime WHEN?

Finally watched Ace of Diamond Act II. This is one of my favorite shows, so I'm not sure why it took me two years after it ended to finally watch it. Out of the 3 seasons this might have been my favorite. It was the first time in a long time that I was so invested in an anime that I was staying up late watching it until I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Started watching Tiger & Bunny. It's an alright superhero show. I'm only about halfway through the first season but it has been solid. Tiger's original costume he wore in the first episode is way better than the ugly armor he actually ends up wearing in the show.

I really loved Tiger and Bunny. Disagree about Tiger's costume but then again I'm a slut for power armor/mecha.

Besides rewatching Ryo Ohki, not really anime, but I've been watching Dogengers. It's a tokusatsu show about Japan's local heroes and it's pretty enjoyable. Finished the first season and next I'll go onto Dogengers Nice Buddy if I don't decide to swap over to Ultraman Tiga or Trigger instead.

There's stuff to watch this season. A couple decent low-stakes OP-MC Isekai shows, a decent gag rom-com, a couple light action shows with waifus, the new Made in Abyss (if I can get in the mood to pull my heart out and stomp on it for awhile).
but absolutely nothing to love.

I may have to go back to stuff I skipped/stopped last season. Such as the show connected to one notable Tenchi creator, who is also connected to probably 10-25% of the rest of your anime collection without you realizing it... Yousuke Kuroda.

At this point, due to the delays that have come up for Kantai Collection Season 2 and also delays that have hit several other anime (Albeit unlike Kancolle Season 2 they're not shows I'm watching), I've shifted my approach to watching seasonal anime a bit. Unless the show is a long runner rather than a seasonal anime (Such as Digimon Ghost Game or the various tokusatsu) or is something I'm really looking forward to, I'm gonna wait for every episode to release and then binge it going forward. I ain't falling for the "show I've been watching just got put on hiatus and I have to wait several weeks and risk losing track of where I was" trap ever again. Falling for that trap for the first time in all of my years watching anime with Kancolle Season 2 was enough for me to put my foot down and say "Do you want WarOmnimon to wait and then binge watch? Because that's how you get WarOmnimon to wait and then binge watch", LOL.

That being said, here's my watchlist right now, divided into categories, watching as it airs or waiting until it finishes and then binging. Again, the toku I'm watching or will be watching is included.

Watching as it airs (Or episodes are released in one case)
•Digimon Ghost Game (Side note, this is going down next to Tamers and Savers as one of my favorite seasons once it's done; Gammamon is best boy, no contest)
•Genjitsu no Yohane (Confirmed to air this year but which season hasn't been announced yet)
•Gridman Universe (This one's a movie but listing it here for consistency)
•Ohsama Sentai Kingohger (Yes, we finally got an insect Super Sentai)
•Tenchi Muyo! GXP Paradise Beginnings Arc
•THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149
•THE iDOLM@STER Million Live
•Ultraman Blazer (Not yet officially announced but confirmed to be the 2023 season of Ultraman via copyright listings, etc.)

Binging once every episode has aired
•Birdie Wing Season 2 (I need to watch the rest of Season 1 first as I'm only 2 or 3 episodes in right now, but I'm still listing it here for consistency)
•Dr. Stone Season 3
•Kantai Collection Season 2 (Got halfway through and then it went straight to consistent hiatus hell, hence me taking this new approach of separating shows into "watch as it airs" or "binge once it's done")
•My Hero Academia Season 6

...High School DxD Season 5 when? I wanna see mah boi Issei kicking butt and impressing his girls again...

There was/is so much mediocre stuff this season that I started with a packed schedule. But shows are dropping like flies (or delayed to completion).

I was surprised at how much I dislike the Trigun reimagining. By bringing Knives front and center they've also put the whole ugliness of the story to the forefront. That episode of people being bombed to bits or shred up with knives (because they decided to be stupidly literal with Knives) and most of the town in the first arc killed... I'm just left thinking "why watch this?" I guess I'll see how it goes.
Oddly, kinda the same with Buddy Daddies... Oh, how sweet, the cute girl's daddies are ruthless assassins. Yeah, of "bad guys" but still....
I once had a dream where I was a super-spy, James Bond type, I was making my way through a warehouse setting, ducking around and running through bullet spray with no care as I killed the nameless minions who can never hit me because "I'm the main character." But in the dream, I'm aware as a nameless nobody jumps around a girder, blindly shoots at me and the bullet goes straight in my head. I've "died" a couple times in dreams like this- it gives me a jolt and I wake up. Ever since then I have had no patience for good guy killers dodging a hail of bullets with only plot armor for protection.... So Buddy Daddies cut.

I'm left watching some sequels and isekai or adjacent shows. With Reincarnated Princess & the Genius Young Lady as the "highlight"- just becasue the MC is such a fun genki girl.
A couple sweet romcoms showing too, but maybe not worth mentioning by name.

I guess the ones others are calling "the best" could be good, but are action shows and I'd rather just wait to see if they end up worth binging later.

Okay, so my to-watch list has not changed too much since my last post, with only one show being legitimately added to it, and that being The Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses. I also forgot to list Senki Zesshou Symphogear's upcoming sixth season, so I added that as well. Sad that Digimon Ghost Game only has two episodes left, and even sadder that we have to go through a 2 week hiatus to get to them. *Shakes fist at the TV marathons*

Also, watched Ousama Sentai King-Ohger's first episode recently and, well... oh my Shugod. (See what I did there?) Easily the best first episode of a Super Sentai season I've seen in a long time and I am glad that I will be watching this consistently as it airs.

Time for an updated list...

Watching as it airs (Or episodes are released in one case)
•Digimon Ghost Game (Only two episodes left, but with more content still incoming for the Vital Bracelet BE this ain't the last of my Digimon hype for this year... also pretty darn happy about ClavisAngemon, Rafflesimon, and Bloomlordmon showing up before the end)
•Genjitsu no Yohane (Now confirmed for the Summer 2023 anime season)
•Gridman Universe (This one's a movie but listing it here for consistency)
•Ousama Sentai King-Ohger (IT HAS BEGUN...)
•Tenchi Muyo! GXP Paradise Beginnings Arc
•The Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses
•THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149
•THE iDOLM@STER Million Live!
•THE iDOLM@STER Shiny Colors
•Ultraman Blazer (The first teaser was shown recently and I am digging what little we saw of Blazer's design)

Binging once every episode has aired
•Birdie Wing Season 2 (Again, I need to watch the rest of Season 1 first, still need to get to that)
•Dr. Stone Season 3
•Kantai Collection Season 2 (Shoutout to our girl Shigure who got the franchise's first ever Kai San remodel in the penultimate episode, can't wait until the final episode later this month to see what this form is capable of)
•My Hero Academia Season 6
•Senki Zesshou Symphogear Season 6 (Whenever it comes out and whatever it's called; all we know right now is that it's happening)

UPDATE on March 20 Holy mother of King Drasil, we actually got confirmation that an anime for Shiny Colors is en route before Cinderella Girls U149 started airing, let alone Million Live!. Updated my lists to reflect this.

So, the Summer 2023 anime season... honestly, the year is winding down for me in terms of how much I'm going to be watching. There are a boatload of sequels that I'm not ready for and most of the shows in this season otherwise just do not have my attention. The only two shows I'm watching this coming season are Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror (This is an AU spinoff of Love Live! Sunshine!! which I have watched to completion so of course I'm going to be watching this) and Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero (Which definitely looks like it's going to be a fun romp).

...oh right, Ultraman Blazar. That starts in July as well. I know it's tokusatsu, but as I always do when talking about what I'm watching or planning to watch, I'm mentioning it anyway.

As for Autumn 2023, that season currently only has one show I'm going to be watching. However, comma... that show just so happens to be THE iDOLM@STER Million Live!, which is my most anticipated show for this year. In other words, 2023 gets to end on a high note where I'm watching the one show I've been waiting for the most all year and not have to pay attention to anything else (Except the aforementioned Ultraman Blazar as it will still be running) in the process, LOL. Beyond that, the future looks bright for me with THE iDOLM@STER Shiny Colors incoming as part of the Spring 2024 anime season and a new Kinnikuman anime en route (No word on if it's a sequel or reboot yet, but I'm watching it either way).

Also, Satelight... when are we going to hear more about the Senki Zesshou Symphogear Season 6 you promised us last year? And to whoever is in charge of it right now, can we please get High School DxD Season 5? *Shakes fist*

Another season for Symphogear would be super duper.
Meanwhile, am considering watching the 2021 anime Far Away Paladin. Supposed to be epic.

Tuesday, I binge watched Magical Girl Site.  It was.... interestingly ... dark.  At any rate, it gave me an idea for a role playing plot mechanic. :)
