The 'wussy' characters

This is a discussion on those 'pussy' male leads. So far I'm getting the impression (from the Western pov) that they're rather looked down upon. Not being able to choose or always taking the blame. Honestly in my opinion, I view them as firm and respectable people since they can take the hurt even when it's not their fault. A virtue of temperance so to speak. What is your opinion and why?

My thing is when no character growth is shown, that's when it starts to get on my nerves. Let's take Tenchi for example. In the first episode, he showed signs of being different (like trying to outwit Ryoko), but for the most part, he was your typical Harem male lead. No redeeming qualities that seemed to qualify him for owning his soon to be harem. He was also pretty bitchmade when it came to certain scenarios (though understandable if he's suppose to be an inexperienced 15 year old). But as time went on, he start to have a better grasp and general understanding of women in general. Once he learned of Ryoko's nature, instead of being played by her, he became the one with the edge and having dominance (Like the episode she got pissed about him in the cabin with Ayeka). Was able to de-ice Ayeka's snob personality (she was even starting to warm to him before knowing his connection to Yosho), when Noike asked him about her hair, he gave her the answer she wanted to hear. Even though he knows Mihoshi can be a hassle to deal with, still treats her pretty damn well, even hanging out with her when she asks. He also survives his encounters with Washu.

Now let's compare a character who I love to bash, Rito from To Love Ru. Now unlike Tenchi, he has not adjusted to the girls personalities at all. He still acts very formal and downright scared about certain things. How many times you're gonna act scared shitless about an obvious misunderstanding that's happened at least 100 times. Why are you still acting like these girls might have other reasons for doing certain things when its been made clear they care for you genuinely. And why are you still scared to act upon any affection when at this point you've just about gotten the okay from every girl to take it to the next level. Why are you acting like you committed a crime by accidental walking in on someone, it was an accident, move on dude. So what if she says won't forgive you or forget. Fuck her then, that's her problem.

It's nothing wrong with being respectable and nice. But that doesn't mean you have to be a sap, you can have the backbone to voice your opinion or downright say no. This is a major reasons Tsunderes can even survive in the first place, cause the guy never put his foot down and allowed her to walk all over him.

Iunno, sometimes it just feels like japanese dudes get off to being submissive weak dudes when it comes to sexual circumstances. Hell, their most popular sexual genre involves a bitchmade dude getting his girl stolen by some ugly as fuck old fat dude who would likely no chance in hell ever get women legally. Porn is your fucking fantasy, the place you can pull any fine ass chick you want, and can look however you want. It's the reason here in western porn, the dudes are buff as hell with big ass dicks. Cause us viewers can emulate ourselves onto him, thus becoming him. So why would I want to have to chose between some sap who goes and cries in the corner or the 50 year old monstrosity that needs to be arrested for being ugly. Where is the fantasy in that? It's like they can't earn anything, it has to be gifted or stolen from another man. The only time you do get a decent storyline is your typical highschool plot, and that's played beyond played out.

Hmm, I see your point. My guess about Rito is that the timeline moves rather slow. He's 16 and he's still 16. I don't see him really being a traditionalist. And even we aren't that... Well, you get it.

Rito Yuuki* still a boy

About the porn. It's not really getting off seeing a submissive weak dude. It's more of 'Haha, I'm not like him.' or 'Dam, I'm not as ugly as him.' The corruption of something pretty by the impure. It's to feed the 'darker' sides of their personality. Taking pleasure in seeing someone hurt.
Or....
It's so they can play out their own fantasy, replacing that fat ugly thing with something better, themselves.
Take that mindset into a Western porn and it's 'Damit, that guy's build is too good.' or 'That dude is scary.'
That kind of thing.

Okay, I don't like how the characters from To Love-Ru have so little characters development that would took 50 years to finish the story, but huh the part where ALL the girls want a second level that not true. Nana and Yami are still very tsundere (not to mention the rich girl and her two friends don't really like Rito but I don't know if they are going to be in the harem anyway)  to him and hey in the last season Rito is accidentally pervert to Yami and that really clear that not his fault at all but Yami still decide that his fault and want kill him. I would be scary too  (though if he saw Lala naked, he should not be afraid since she has not problem about it).

While I don't dislike Rito, I can see much of Tenchi Ryu's point in most respects. This "allergic to love" thing Rito has got going is beginning to get old and I'm kinda getting annoyed that they won't develop his character beyond that.

Case in point, look at how he reacts to Momo. There is a girl who is very open in her feelings towards him, and yet he constantly refuses to return her affections (even though we are led to believe that he shares her feelings). I mean, I'm not asking that he jump her and boink her on the spot, but he should show her his feelings towards her somehow. Maybe just a nice kiss on the cheek, or a loving embrace. Something besides constantly pushing her away for no good reason.

Now, on the subject of wussy characters, has anybody seen "Kanokon"? Kouta, the male lead in that series, is such a wuss that he makes Rito look like James Bond by comparisonXD

EVERYBODY is a fucking badass compare to Kouta.  Thought I don't really hates him (maybe because the class representative is  more annoying).

A picture of him (BTW, he is supposed to be a teenager...yeah really !)

Kouta is made specifically that way to feed the female side of the audience in their soft side for shotas. Of course he's going to be that way.

Edit: I'm getting the feeling that there is a much larger diverse taste in Japan than there are here.

I have zero familiarity with that title, but I have my doubts as to if the MC can be any more beta that that panty waste from Eiken. Densuke Mifune is the perfect embodiment of everything that is wrong with post-Love Hina harem leads. An introverted submissive weakling devoid of any notable talents, whom also happens to make a better trap than a lead.

I guess shota isn't well like in the US.

I never really saw EIken (some pictures with girls who had too big boobs traumatized me enough to not watch it XD) but huh the male lead character is really a shota ? I thought shota was a word for describe pre-teen boy.

According to wiki Eiken's MC is 15, so he's not really in the shota age bracket. Thou the runt certainly looks the part. And not watching Eiken was a good move, I wish I did not. 4chan baited me into finally watching that POS.

Even if it's not shota it's still part of the soft M, femdom play. Having a dominant female who's bigger than you wr-
you get the idea.

That's all you get nowadays in anime. If anything, the alpha level dominant male is pretty much non existent unless its not the main character. Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero pretty much bombed in Japan cause they didn't like the male MC, someone who didn't act like he had no clue how to interact with women. Not just that, had them on the submissive end.

He got called a Jerk quick as hell, yet flip the switch with a evil bitch like Kirino, its called cute and moe. For a country that can be sexist as hell in the real world, they sure seem to lose their balls in an instant and have girls the rulers of all things cool when it comes to animation.

And Shota was also never my thing either. If I want some femdom action, I'll just check out the milf 30 year old character. No need to imagine myself as someone who probably hasn't even grown a damn pubic hair yet.

You said that after read our comment or you read more people who dislikes shota ?

Fantasies and fetiches tend to lean toward the opposite side of one's culture. Whatever is forbidden/not-common/not-normal, people will like it. Having girls be the one pushing men around and the men won't do anything about it, putting oneself in the shoes of a shota and having the 'onee-san' take care of them, etc. It's perfectly acceptable in anime because in real life it's not. They're tired of alphas, they want betas and soft Ms.

Femdom, they don't want just femdom. They want it big. And since in their eye, if the woman is too big it'd be weird. So they make the mcs small. So relatively, the girl's big. (even though they're all like a head shorter by our standards. >.>)

As for the harem thing... I don't know, ap psych didn't teach me anything about that. The Japanese think he's a gary sue, unbalanced, or something. 'It's too perfect! He has a harem AND he knows what to do? Get out.'

If I understood you correctly.... It's the latter.

Hmm, so from what I can tell. People in the US likes situations where they like to be in the dominant position or at the very least not lose ground while the Japanese prefer to see situations where it's society reversed?
