Mihoshi. It's not that I disliked her, it's just that she was just kind of there and annoying when put with one of my favorites, Kiyone.
But she's really sweet in the OAV, especially in ep7 with her Tenchi & Sasami moment. Plus she has elf ears, no one ever mentions them but I like elf ears.

Though, I still can't stand her personality in Universe and OVA 3.
Seiryo is a cool dude too. OVA 2 episode 13 made him look like a bitch and GXP...kinda did the same lol. But they did a decent job fleshing his character out and made him look like a overall good person at heart. He can be pretty smooth too with the ladies when he actually tries, and his theme song helps.

Nope. The feelings I've had for these characters from the beginning remain true to this day. Of the main family in TM!, Sasami/Tsunami is my favorite by far. Aeka and Washu are secondary favorites whom I like but don't love. I'm completely apathetic towards Mihoshi. And I hate Ryoko. And that's not even getting into the TM! cast outside the main family. That's the way I've always felt, and will likely always continue to feel.
Edit: Correction, I did end up finding Seiryo to be a much cooler character in GXP than how he was originally portrayed in OAV 2. Can't really think of anybody else, though.

Sakuya. While I never liked Tokyo, because of how it slaughtered everyone's personalities, I did grow to like her. I don't believe I've ever really disliked any of the core characters, so there were no others that grew on me as the story unfolded.
Sakuya is what happens when you apply real life drastic measures to fantasy harem life. Dude has a harem and you want him? Take him away from the harem. Compliment him once in a while, make him feel like a cool guy. And you will see results.
Hell this wasn't rocket science, basic courting and social habitats for high schoolers IMO, not like Haruna's method of brain washing and stuff. Speaking of Haruna, though she had an extreme case of "he left me I need a rebound", at least Tenchi got some ass. Canon or not, TMIL 2 gets the one up on Kajishima til he animates the Noike session, cause animated > drawn every time lol.
Hell, I don't even care for Kiyone much, and I'd still probably smash. Screw Chihaya and I'd probably smash, but she ain't meeting moms or anything, don't deserve it. She gets the "you're only for sex" treatment.

Unfortunately (or probably fortunately for that matter considering the state of the fanbase back then lol) I didn't even know Tenchi was still on going and at best thought it was just gonna be that old show I'd think about from my kid days when toonami came on.
So my freshman year at college which was bout 4 years ago is when I had a bunch of free time and decided to check out Tenchi again. So I DL'd the dual audio batch from Exiled Destiny (didn't really know about the anime fansub groups at the time, was just megaupload downloading shit randomly and ended up with the whole 6 episodes). But I went and watched the whole thing from 1-3 compared to just watching 3, so it might have a reason why I was never hostile towards it.
Then I decided to see if there was a place to talk Tenchi and that's when I found the NNFT board, but mofos was wildin out over there and split up into the current 2 main cores just around the time I actually joined.
Crazy all this is like in a 4 year time span. Well I guess 5 now since we're approaching 2014.
I didn't like Noike at all the first time I saw OVA 3, but she's grown on me (just like OVA 3 did). She's still not close to being my favorite (I don't like bossy people), but I do think she is pretty damn hot when she's got long hair. I do like Ryoko though, but some of her rabid fanbase *coughTFcough* can make me dislike her at times, until I remember that disliking a character because of the fanbase is fucking stupid.
Personally I've never had any issue with Noike, aside from her decision to lop off that long luscious hair. Back when GXP was first released fansubbed I remember thinking who's this chick?! And ugh, short hair... FYI 90% of women with short hair look like shit. Then a couple years later she got a proper introduction with OVA3. The rest really is just history, as they say. In fact if I had any issue, it's that she told Ayeka & Ryoko the truth about why she was there too soon. They really should have played that out throughout OVA3.

White hair, ironically, is very appealing to us. I don't know why, especially when we associate it with death, demons, ghosts, the afterlife.... and then to find it appealing.
I just had a terrifying probable realization. That one will not appreciate the tsundere character, unless they had an Asian mother... And.... No, that's just terrifying.

That weird because the first anime forum I was a member was a French Rumiko Takahashi site where most of the people liked Akane and I see many French and English people liking pairing with tsundere as Asuka x Shinji from NGE or Louise x Saito from Familiar of Zero. Yes, it has people who dislikes tsundere, but others like it. And it has also the case of people who likes tsunderes and dislike others. For example, I like Sanada from Dual because she is not a total bitch like Chia.

I'll be honest, I like Kiyone for what I pretend her to be and not really the novels and that her character design would look good with Tenchi. Though while I can't get into Noike, I don't really mind if others can. But I don't buy the TU portrayal of her as a career woman either, since the show started the butcher of everyone else. If she were to be put in the OAV, MK could essentially have a blank slate and he did think Kiyone would be the best of all the girls for Tenchi.
The novels were crappy and even the Ryoko fanbois at certain places have no interest in Hasegawa's weird stories (including the incestuous Mayuka ones) beyond the fact she was a Ryoko fangirl.

Yeah, also, Akane Tendo has a lot of fans on both sides of the Pacific, and she's one of the most well known tsunderes out there.
How large in comparison? And, did they grow up in similar conditions? Being around... b**chy people?

My hypothesis is that, for people to stand or like these types of characters, they must have been through similar situations in the past where they developed a resistance or some kind of defense mechanism like fetishes to deal with it.

For example, some people can found Louise using a whip on the guy she is supposed loving worst than Chia trying killing Kenshi and others people would had the opposite opinion.

I'm not a major Kenshi fan, but from how I write Tsundere in my mind, I tend to write ones that are mean because they have to be. Without getting into one to closely, one Tsundere I imagined up, starts getting mad and violent because she's cursed to do so when around the boy she loves, not for lacking loving thoughts.
I think a tsundere needs some type of redeeming quality in some way to work, she really loves her object of abuse/affection (ooa), her family is taken hostage by antagonists and she lashes out, anything.
I don't see such a thing for Chaia. In fact, I don't even know if she is a Tsundere. A tsundere harbors a secret love toward the ooa that no one knows about but is revealed in some way. I don't recall such a revelation. For all I know, she's just a nasty person and doesn't even have the decency to be a yandere then._.
There's all the tsun but none of the dere. >.<
Yus, in that sense Chaia is a TSUNdere.
