I'm surprised there's not a thread here about this game. J-Stars Victory VS is like the ultimate crossover for Shonen Jump fans and has over 40 characters announced already. I believe the full roster is out but this game looks awesome. Can't wait to bash in naruto's head in with Luffy,Oga and Joseph Joestar.

Here's the current roster btw:

Will it be available in the west?

I don't see it happening, Too many licensing issues for US & Europe. Fortunately PS3 is region-free so I'm importing it, besides its a fighting game so it won't be heavy on the Japanese text reading.

I didn't know that. Is PS3 region free for DVD & Bluray movies as well?

You should be able to play Japanese Blu Rays if you're here in america since its all the same region. DVDs on the other hand are restricted.

Basically what Tenchi Ryu said. I have some Japanese Blu-Rays that play just fine on my NTSC PS3. There's a great map here that shows which country uses R1,R2 and R3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc#Region_codes
DVDs are the same as before, restricted.

Anyway JUMP just announced Ace (From One Piece), Momotarō Tsurugi (Sakigake!! Otoko Juku), Killua Zoldyck (Hunter x Hunter), and Hiei (Yū Yū Hakusho) are playable characters and that's it. Unless they announce Free DLC, I don't see anymore characters entering the game. The rosters good enough for me but It would've been more awesome if they added DIO and Yugi into the game. There really was no need to add in Ace as we already had Luffy,Hancock and Akainu. I would've been ok with Zoro too but oh well at least Oga,Bobobo and Joseph made it into the game. March 19 can't come any sooner.... :yoshi:

Yeah the film industry, which Sony is also a part of, is one industry which absolutely refuses to go region free. Bluray actually won the format war against HDDVD because several large studios like Warner Brothers refused to support HDDVD due to it NOT using region locks. Even the PSP UMD movies are region locked. And all because they don't want anyone to import chinese market releases for less. Region locking is all about rich people maximizing profits at the consumers expense.

Since you're in Europe, antvasima, you should be able to play Japanese DVDs. Provided your TV also supports NTSC. Which I believe most TVs these days support PAL and NTSC formats. But most Japanese blurays will not work as they're Region A coded and Europe is Region B.

That said I find the whole thing retarded. Anyone with a functional brain can defeat region protection by ripping the disc with a computer and burn a copy with all region flags checked or buy an "all code" bluray player or "region free" dvd player to defeat it. So all they're really doing is inconveniencing the consumer and encouraging piracy by continuing to think backwards.

Don't plan on getting the game in the near future, but do plan on keeping watch on it later down the line when i finally get a Vita, i'll probably import it.

Been following the NeoGAF thread for updates and folks talking about it.
