Rightstuf's version was 41 bucks last month, they apparently bumped the price up 10 dollars again....

Its started off as $41, then it bumped up to $52 at the beginning of November, then dropped BACK down to 41 around Thanksgiving, and now back at 52.

Target is likely the "limited edition" too, cause neither site has a second listing for either title, nor does Amazon.

EDIT: BestBuy, DeepDiscount & FYE only have one listing for each title too. And of course FYE proves they suck donkey dick, by charging nearly MSPR for it.
Still not seeing anything that hints at there being two different release versions. RightStuff just has a better description, til proven otherwise. /press X for doubt

FYE straight bum wack asses with that weak ass "deal". They might as well give up if they actually plan on competiting with that price compared to the others...

FYE should go out of business already, the only thing their parent company had going for them was Suncoast Video and the idiots closed them all.

Chicago like many other cities is getting taken over by HHgreg, they might as well get more involved into the media business. I haven't even been to a Fye store in years. Ironic that's where I bought my first Tenchi merchandise...the first of four volumes of the Tenchi Ova with Ryoko on the cover I believe, Tenchi Muyo in love 1 + 2 and that Tenchi action figure with him in his battle armor. Oh well, fuck em.

I don't think I've ever bought anything from FYE. Back when FYE was known as THE WALL I used to buy CDs there, along with a lot of people I knew. Their lifetime replacement on damaged discs was a huge selling point, even if they charged a couple bucks more an album. But FYE, same high prices & none of the perks. Fuck them.

And my video is still the second one to show up when you search Light Hawk wings on youtube...SUCK IT FUNIMATION!!!

Still battling with that Guile them video though. DBZ music is awesome, but god damn that Guile theme is smooth... :neg:

Anyone else disappointed in this release? Does the bluray 13.5 episode have a dubbed setting, the DVD sure doesn't which makes it worse than the original Pioneer release.

Kinda don't have a copy of it yet, the fact you feel disappointed leaves my curious though. I'd love to hear you give a short summary/review if you're up to it...since you seem to be the only one who currently has it over here...

I'm not really very good at things like that, plus i haven't seen what the bluray has but doesn't seem to have a large array of features. The dvd only has trailers for other animes and a Funimation Tenchi trailer. One thing that got me about it is that the 13.5 episode is advertised as a special feature, really? The quality of the video doesn't look overly well either. All in all I would say that the Pioneer Ultimate OVA set is much better. Oh and the special booklet, what a rip, its just some character art that any real Tenchi fan has seen a 100 times already. Funimation I almost appreciate the effort to rerelease but it feels like more of a slap in the face. See I do suck at reviews like this

Amazon is now matching Target's price on the OVAs and Bestbuy's price on the movies, meaning Amazon is now the cheapest place to buy both.

And, I've learned Bestbuy will now price match Amazon (http://pandodaily.com/2012/11/12/best-buys-amazon-price-match-is-a-400m-all-in-bet-it-cant-win/), so if you're lucky enough to find both at your local Bestbuy, you should be able to pick them up for Amazon's price. Just make sure to print out a screen capture before hand. Unfortunately for me, neither of my local Bestbuy stores had the OVAs, when I stopped in earlier today.

Looks like less and less of a reason to pick this shit up now. (Not like I was in a rush to get it in the first place.)

Original point still stands, I'll probably wait til its like on a super duper amazon sale for 20 bucks then pick it up...

Now if Funimation had a complete Ryo-ohki set with all 20 episodes, that would be awesome, but we know damn well that ain't happening with the two different Japanese publishers...Although Funi would get on my good side if they did a in-house upscale of OVA 3 + GXP.

I stand corrected, bluray review has a review of both releases and while I have not compared the movie captures, the OVA transfer actually looks pretty damn good. At least compared to the old scene rip [Yousei] I have. The most noticeable difference in the black levels & amount of grain. So while I cannot compare it to the actual Japanese discs, it does appear to be visually better than what we've lived with for the last couple years. Still not thrilled over their idea of acceptable sacrifices thou... damned funimation. :doom:

Yea, it does look a tad cleaner. I also notice that the saturation levels are higher on Funi's version, but that's not really a bad thing here, especially if you prefer a brighter scene. But I wouldn't considered it a night and day difference, but its pretty impressive to say the least. And them missing the Mihoshi Special (as well as most likely the animated music videos) is just a crime. Oh well, I'll just stick to the japanese Blu Ray rips for now, HDMI'ing the laptop to the HDTV has worked all this time, see no need to stop. That and since I'm not really into the whole "collector" scene, some MKVs/MP4s is enough for me.

Reminds me of the Yu Yu Hakusho Blu Ray upscales they did that were actually very good. If only they could be more consistent.
