Do we re-post our character sheets? It might be a good idea.

I posted the character sheet for the Neutral character that is intended to be a villain.

A neutral character that's a villain?  Please explain...
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on August 15, 2012, 10:26:26 PM
Neutral as in not affiliated with either Heaven or Hell.

As for how she would fit in with the plot... Well, she'd be another troublemaker, but one that is intended to have no redeeming qualities.

she goes around and gives some random people some magic trinkets. Thus providing Ian plenty of chances to either fight someone that goes a bit power-hungry when they have a power-granting item, or a chance for Ian to talk a person down before they wind up seriously hurting someone.

I found out that a half-human, half-demon being would be called a Cambion.

And on a side note, I feel a bit sickened at what I had Kakarine say.

One: fine...Two: what do you mean?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

The part where Kakarine said  Belldandy might have to leave her child.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

Well, if it's part of the plot, it's part of the plot, and needs to be said.  No shame in that...

I've been thinking about what might Urd's special ability might be.

Skuld's is being able to print whatever she says on anything.

Bell's is a compelling voice.

I think that  Urd might have a Special ability to be able to manipulate a person's feelings temporarily.
I would guess that it requires a line of sight between her eyes and the target's eyes.

The proof that Urd could have this ability is when Keiichi is in the bath and she asks him if he wants her to scrub his back. It's around Chapter 14, page 14.

A part of me wants to claim that Hild had this ability as well, but either I can't either remember the chapter where some proof might be in or find a chapter.

Maybe one could count the parts where Hild looks a person in the eyes and scares them, but that seems more like she's letting them get a small feel of how much power that she can wield, even if the vast majority is under seals. So I guess it might not count.

I am a member of the Goddess Relief Office website, and I might take that question to them to see what the experts think.  I'll get an answer back to you.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on September 08, 2012, 05:31:46 PM
Here's an answer from one of them:

"Hmmm, seduction as a special ability...why not?
But Urd always struck me as the one who feels it's her duty to defend the others, and she has a flair for dramatic casting.
Making potions is a talent I guess, and she really seems to have 'transport' down, she can appear almost anywhere
in an instant (behind Skuld,K1 etc.) plus flight with or without a device.
She's proven to have focus (the way she smothered that bomb)
lol, going back to D&D days she certainly has rage/berserk down.
So, I don't know, I'd say Chemistry/Alchemy or some defensive enhancement maybe.
Thinking more about it, Urd's power isn't really seduction, she just IS seductive.

As for Hild....the way she can keep cranking up the power, I'd say boost. Maybe intimidation?
And Hild could use seduction, easily. She offers power at a price.

Oh, Urd can switch from goddess to demonic style, if that is a factor."

Huh, I'm tempted to join that place by sometime next week.

Well, time to argue about the matter in the PR concerning Gods, goddesses and their demigod offspring.

What's a good starting point?

Should someone make the wording of the potential rule and we then argue about it?

Or some other starting point?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on September 08, 2012, 08:22:43 PM
Well, what has been put forth is that it is mandatory that half-human, half-divine beings must be separated from their parents at birth until a certain point, as put forth by that troublemaker.  Because she is what she is, I propose that it was some kind of half-truth, where there can be exceptions to the rule or rules dictating when such a separation is warranted.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 09, 2012, 02:05:56 AM
Yeah, I agree that it would be some kind of half-truth. But the general gist was only the divine parent would be separated from their children until the children can face their destiny on their own.

There was a workaround that Urd remembered that went as sealing the powers and some memories of the divine parent, But that was shot down because Belldandy is too big of a target for Hild if Bell does that. Though, I think only sealing the powers would be good enough, now that I had some time to think about it.

Urd's demonic half pointed out that the wording applies specifies Demigod children and that Bell can work around it if she adopts.

Should there be another workaround? There can't be too many, nor ones that are easily met.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on September 09, 2012, 03:35:38 AM
I think it should involve a similar trial...something along the lines of what we see happening now.  It would be something along the lines of being able to gain the same results without isolating Belldandy.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 09, 2012, 04:02:30 AM
If you want to do a trial, then I suggest waiting until the current story arc in the manga is finished and find out what we can use.

We can have the one that Belldandy calls say something like, "We need time to set things up for a trial. We'll give you a call when it is ready."

Personally, I say the trial you're suggesting should be used to determine what restraints would be used on Belldandy, should she and Keiichi have a kid. With the restraint list going from having some of her powers sealed, but still being to be with Keiichi and her kids; to only being able to watch as her kid grows up.

You wanna know what's kinda funny? If we do make a rule about Gods and their children with humans, it casts a different light on Malek's argument with Odin.

Back then, Malek was trying to find out why Odin didn't create a avatar to stay with Dorothy. But if there was a rule, then Malek was trying to tempt Odin into breaking the rules.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on September 09, 2012, 12:11:10 PM
It wasn't that there was a rule, Odin just felt it was best in Ian's situation and Ian's situation alone that he not be in the picture considering his position...the Almighty...the All-father...think about it.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 09, 2012, 02:20:56 PM
I guess another possible reason for the existence of the rule, to prevent the divine parent's enemies from finding and attacking the child.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on September 09, 2012, 04:57:44 PM
I think it would be something taken in a case-by-case basis: what could the child contribute in the future?  What would be his or her powers?  What would Heaven have as a purpose...different things.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 09, 2012, 05:29:53 PM
That's something to consider as well.

I say the rule be that the divine parent undergoes a trial to see if they would be allowed to stay with their child, but with an addendum that if the divine parent chooses not to undergo the trial, they only only help indirectly.

As for what kinda of trial... something like a TV courtroom trial? Or something that I was planning on using later in the Rp? The divine being plead their case to three judges, who then debate about it before making a decision. The judges would be... one divine judge, one demonic judge, and one neutral judge.

(Side note, Kakarine will not be the neutral judge, nor will she ever be one. She's burned too many bridges.)
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on September 09, 2012, 05:31:43 PM
I was considering a character trial, but the whole neutral thing, considering Auir's human characters, that may fly.  Perhaps it can be two-phase...character test, and then court trial.

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 10, 2012, 05:36:52 AM
I realized why I kept talking about putting more seals on Belldandy if she wanted to stay with her hypothetical  kids.

There's not many stories where the god lives with their kids in the old myths. I was going like they had to decide between putting more seals on that they couldn't remove themselves, but risking not having enough power if they are attacked by their enemies; or having enough power to protect their child from their enemies, but unable to interact directly.

The reason I say enemies instead of demons, is because I'm going with that some of the magical beings that you hear about in the old stories, Like Elves, brounie, trolls, goblins, and the rest of the fae, Some might decide that if the god has a child and is weakened, it's a good time to attack, even if the god is still more powerful then them.

After all, in the OMG universe, There's Lorelei, plum tree spirits, earth spirits, the engine trolls, and whatever Morgan was. Where might be more.

That could be, but then that throws Ian into the mix: what she can't do, he just might be able.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 10, 2012, 12:33:50 PM
I made a few mistakes in my last post.

I said "seals hey could remove" I meant to type "seals they  couldn't remove"

And yeah, Ian could be a protector for Bell, but so can Skuld and Urd.

So unlike the previous gods, Bell would be certain that she, Keiichi, and her kids would be well protected.

I was looking through some old games when I realized that I based Kakarine off of a video game character from an obscure fighting game. Thing is, the Kakarine I created is less powerful then her namesake.

I want Bell to be still a bit upset, and I was wondering how to reflect that in the cooking.

Maybe have the plates and cups shake every so often during dinner?

Or have the food be a bit under/overcooked, but still edible?

The second one.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on September 22, 2012, 01:02:44 AM
would skuld be willing to make drone targets that fly in random patterns so Z can train his new laser technique?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 22, 2012, 02:24:48 AM
Actually, One thing that Urd did for Ai was using a spell to create some drones targets for her to practice on.

I'm going with that there is a demon version of that spell. After all, seems harmless enough that knowledge of it would be shared between Heaven and Hell.

So why not have Z go to the arcade in his free time and ask someone there if they know the spell to create Drone targets?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on September 22, 2012, 02:46:28 AM
Sounds like a plan.  so when will the music weakness and doublet events happen?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 22, 2012, 03:02:55 AM
Music weakness finding event will be done in after dinner in the RP. Keep in mind that Urd's trying to discover Malek's Music weakness because she plans on using it to keep him in check when things get dangerous. Of course, if you've read Malek's Character sheet, that plan is doomed to fail.

The doublet thing might be happening the next day in the RP. As in inside the RP universe, not tomorrow for us.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on September 25, 2012, 02:45:52 PM
would Z be able to access a full demon mode like Urd?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on September 25, 2012, 04:00:21 PM
I say go with the idea of Z's demon state is not as powerful, but he can recover magical energy faster and can deal with a complete loss of magical energy better then a full-blooded demon.

Like I once told Paladin313 of my opinion of Demigods. Their humanity could be considered a third way of gaining energy.

First way would be from Yggdrasil/Nidhogg

Second way would be from specific food and drinks.

And Demi-gods and Cambions have a third source. Their humanity generates a bit of magical energy. Not as much as the first two, but enough to allow them to move when others can't

Alright, here is the doublet speechy thingy-mah-bob.

If the words are not in color, it is said by both. Otherwise, Red for demon, blue for god/goddess

And replace ------ with the character name.

-oOoOoOo-

You who are together with me.
The closest strangers.
The furthest twins.
You who are together with me, you who protect the darkness.
You who protect the light. You who are together with me.
Until the light disappears, Until the darkness disappears, Darkness will protect the light, Light will protect the darkness.
Making our life one, sharing our life.
For the gods, I ------ , do swear
For the demons, I ------ , do swear.

First thing that comes to mind is that Malek offers a free trial of the ability.

Other thing is that Malek points out that Proter didn't ask what the cost might be.

Should I do one of these things or something else?

I'm sorry that I seem annoying and needy, but I feel a bit off today.

One storyline I thought about us doing in the Rp is Keiichi somehow gets a car, Kakarine secretly replaces a part in it, Car goes crazy and kidnaps Keiichi.

Any thoughts?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

That might be fun, but we have to get through Daytona first...and I was thinking...after the doublet thing, could we get to the race, or the days leading up to it?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on October 11, 2012, 05:37:25 AM
I pick 'days leading up to the race'. Z still has the 'shield spell variations' lessons to learn from Malek.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on October 11, 2012, 12:52:52 PM
If that's the case, they can be doing that at Daytona Beach, because there would be about a month's preparation for the race, and a warm-up race or two.  Then there would be the two 175 mile sprints that mark what they call "Speed Week," where that, a couple of motorcycle races, and the 12 Hours at Daytona take place.

I saw the raw for 293, and I am wondering if they are trying to say that, if Belldandy stays with Keiichi, she has to become mortal.  If so, does that nullify the new contract?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on January 29, 2013, 04:04:56 PM
Maybe.

I believe I once said that the viewing thing was just to say "If you stay together, it'll end in misery and woe" to Keiichi and Belldandy.

I think that you, Paladin, said the viewing thing couldn't be for that and it was for some other purpose.

Or maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

Well, in the raws, the pair is together, and it seems that Judgment gate has been pleased in what she has seen so far, and in fact, there is something that Bell says with a blush and smile that makes Judgment Gate do the same.  With that, the couple seem to be confirming some kind of greater love, and are close to kissing, but Judgment Gate gets between them, not forcibly, but enough to let them know there is more that needs to happen.

Yet, I cannot see Bell losing her powers, because the creator of AMG has said he intends the series to go on for a long time, and that is fact, not rumor.  Apparently, there are some plot lines he thinks have merit, and I more think they've been building up to the 25th anniversary celebration with this story.  I see marriage, and maybe a child?  Who knows, but know it's not ending, but I think getting ready for a new phase, or whatever you would call it; not a new series, but a renewing of the series.

Well, Judgment Gate seemed cheerful that they would suffer pain in their relationship, and thinks it will end just as sadly.  However, who is to say what the future brings.  She may live, he may die, but, what about them having children?  What about him winding up in heaven?  There is so much that could happen to say it would end in tragedy.  Therefore, they face their future the same way any mortal couple would, and both seem quite willing to go through with it for the sake of one another.  Morever, unlike the lake goddess, Belldandy has never ceased in loving others.  She has and always will.  This gives her an edge.  Its the question that has to be asked that has me going.  I mean, it seems that Judgment Gate is very willing to have them be together, but it seems that it all hinges on the answer to the unknown question.

Moreover, I think Hild is very happy to put them through this, because I believe two things: one, that she doesn't think they will pass the gate, breaking Bell's heart and getting back at her ex, and two, I think she wants to make a play for Kei herself.

I'm going to try to point out a few points of why I think Odin declaring the temple a neutral ground is a bad idea.

---

Belldandy, Urd, Skuld, and whatever magical beings that live at the temple can defend and recover from any attack that Hild and any demon can throw at them.

Keiichi's friends and family, not so much.

Most portrayals of demons in OMG are either being petty, cruel, cocky, or vindictive. This would mean they would mostly likely put quite a bit of effort into making the lives of Keiichi's friends and family a living nightmare, simply because Odin declared the temple a neutral spot. If Keiichi's friends and family are put under protection, Then  an argument would probably come up that Odin and the forces of Heaven are doing something similar to what Hagal did by seeming trying to start another war between Heaven and Hell.

On a bit of a side note, I doubt Bellldandy would allow others to be the target of a demon's wraith because the demon can't target her because she is at the temple.

I'm sorry. I realize I've been acting like a jerk, trying to take over the story without intending to. I think it might be best if I were to quit the Rp. I'll still stick around the Coffee house to talk about the latest chapters of the Manga, but I'm going to stay away from the Rp.

Katz, I want you to play.  I just want to know where you think this should go.  I went with the neutral ground thing because I thought YOU suggested it.  I said, "Makes sense," and went with it.  You wanted vengeance, I compromised and gave it to you.  I think the only issue is how we interpret how the characters should be.  You see certain areas of personality I don't; I see certain areas of personality you don't.  This is why I asked.  You see this constant conflict.  I see that they get along more than they would care to admit.  Besides, Chrono was sent to be a personal protector for the crew until Ian is powerful enough, and so with the neutral ground thing, she would have her hands full and it would be funny.  This is normally supposed to be funny, after all.  Trace, we haven't heard from you.  How do YOU think this should go?  We've hit an impasse, and a third opinion would help.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on February 04, 2013, 01:41:04 PM
Honestly, I don't mind the direction the RP is going.  I think the Neutral ground is a good Idea and there are still loads of things that could happen.  I mean Toshiyuki Aoshima is still out there and is still an ass.  As for the RP's Plot, i see an Rp as almost another world and it is impossible for one person to completely control it without turning it into fanfiction.  so I think it's fine that Katz wants things to go a certain way, but this isn't the anime or manga so there will be a few differences.  Like our OCs for example.  So don't leave Katz, things were getting good.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on February 04, 2013, 06:34:34 PM
Where did I mention the temple should be neutral ground? I honestly don't recall. If it's about a part of the arcade being neutral ground, that was an attempt on Deberk's part to avoid Urd stomping in and making all sorts of demands/threats.

The storyline about Malek getting vengeance was both to cause a bit of chaos that Heaven's own security can be used against them in certain situations because of the wording of Keiichi's wish and deal with Belldandy, but also to let Ian know he should be wary of quite a few gods and goddesses and shouldn't freely trust them simply because they reside in Heaven. Sort of an odd lesson about free will and trust somewhere.

One of the reasons I'm quitting the Rp is I asked myself if I am having fun and if I'm enjoying what I'm doing in the rp.  I realized I wasn't. I also realized I was getting a bit bitchy because of it. So rather than continuing and risk ruining my friendship with you guys because of my attitude, I'm quitting the RP.

You are not stupid, Paladin.

From what I've seen of How Heaven and Hell interact at a few time, it kinda seems like something one would see in the background story of a cold war spy fiction movie/book or something. Only instead of Nuclear weapons, it's the doublet system keeping an uneasy peace.

As for why Hild and Mara are seemingly so friendly with Belldandy and everyone at the temple at times, the incidents seem to be small incidents that don't matter in the long run, except maybe as a bargaining/blackmailing point later. At least that what it seems with Hild. Mara's too emotionally involved with Urd. While one might claim the same with Hild towards Urd, Hild is far more willing to put her emotions aside and beat the stuffing out of Urd for getting in her way.

I'll still be around, I'm just not going to be playing in the RP.

But you just proved my point: I have been blowing it.  People too friendly, not enough cloak and dagger stuff that you seem to think is the whole point of OMG, and you seem to know more than me, so, I must be wrong.  I mean, I always saw it as they weren't foes, just beings with different needs and interests that clash from time to time, but I guess I was wrong.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on February 04, 2013, 08:20:33 PM
Simply by that statement, I realize my thoughts are a lot more negative than you. I may be seeing things that aren't even there. More than likely, I'm seeing things that any writer of OMG never intended to be there at all.

OMG is supposed to be about a romcom Between Keiichi and Belldandy. The two love each other and the series is sweet without being sickeningly so.

And here I am thinking about some barely thought-of elements that are so far from what we see in all portrayals of OMG, they might as well be in a different series.

While writing my OMG what if chapters, more than once, I've thought to myself, "OMG is supposed to be a happy series. Why the hell do I write more chapters that end on a depressing note?"
My 'Keiichi is able to support an angel' chapters ended with Lind taking Blue Lance away and Keiichi sobbing in Belldandy's arms, for crying out loud!

I'm probably the last person who might think he has a good view of OMG. I can barely write a chapter at the moment without something becoming depressing.

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: HotelKatz on February 09, 2013, 06:57:20 AM
One thought I had is that there are probably some holy artifacts that Keiichi could use to defend himself in the series.

The reason why he hasn't been given any? He then goes from being a non-combatant/civilian to a combatant in the eyes of any demon. It's a bit of a trade-off. If he uses tools of heaven to defend himself, then he can't be protected by some laws or treaty that we don't know of at the moment. If he can only defend himself by whatever is earthbound, then the Demons can't go full out on him.

Pretty much like this -

Keiichi is only able to defend himself with whatever is earthbound - has some protection by a (unknown to us and may not even exist) Treaty. Not much protection, but better than nothing.

Keiichi given tools that are made in Heaven - No longer protected by the (unknown to us and may not even exist) Treaty.

But this is all speculation.

I had a chance to go back and see Chrono in action, and her age seems to appear in her mid-teens...14, 15...but she's probably older than that and Ian is 18 almost 19, and in Japan, that's not unheard of.

not really.  It's a nice romance story where the main character tries to deal with her feelings and the prejudice against vampires, who drink pigs's blood, can live in the sun, are more vulnerable to cold, heal quickly, and can't eat human food.

Ladies and gentlemen: I have the sad duty to announce that, after all these years, Ah! My Goddess will be coming to an end in July.  Yet, he also said there is to be a big announcement then as well.  Issue 308 will be the wedding and epilogue.  However, I hope there is a sequel series involving their children, who would be demi-deity.

so many good manga are ending.  Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Negima, Rosario Vampire, Orange Marmalade, even Naruto is winding down.

I see it like this: it's like a good TV series.  No matter how good it is and how long it lasts, it has to come to an end at some point, and AMG had a good long run, and far longer than most series ever did!  Keroro Gunso is giving AMG a run for its money, though.

Ah, that would include older series.  But, I think its tradition with the Japanese to let things end at some point.

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

Its time to move on, I guess, and give younger animators and writers a chance to do something.  I do believe that is also a tradition in Japan: the older get out of the way when they know it is time.  I could be wrong.  Another thing is, unlike here, they don't have a look at the characters as to be going on forever.  In other words, unlike here, where our superheroes have lasted forever, but keep having to be rebooted, they figure the characters had their run, and now it is time to pull them before they jump the shark.  This normally happens when they run out of fresh ideas, feel that the ones they come up with have been done before and are just not marketable, and they know when it is time to say, "I had my day, and now it is time to give someone else a chance with their ideas."
It is interesting, though, that many of them are ending at about the same time.  Just the law of averages, or the law of the "Texas Sharpshooter," I guess.

Well, the one who made AMG did say he had a big announcement at the end of the last tale.  It could be a continuation as a new series with new characters, including possible offspring would be my guess.

I love that show!  It is so funny, and I think the makers of the show really know how to catch an international audience with its humor, and the American translators know how to make pop culture references we would know to keep it funny for us.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

Fan subbed or official?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on March 20, 2014, 04:30:51 PM
Official.  I have seen the official ones they have done that were not the first few that were test runs, made more kiddy, and the American fans hated because they did that.  In the original, they use pop culture references more oriented to what the Japanese know, so they have tried to, (and done with some success,) put in pop culture references that would be American equivalents that would fit the scene, and they have done a decent job--not the greatest, but better than butchering it or using references we would know nothing about.

Doing a bit of personal hygiene, (shave, shower, etc,) but I'll be back.

Wow, nice to see an official sub with that much effort. Usually it's the fan subbers who do all that.
(And sometimes get their scripts ripped off and used in the official since what they do isn't 'patented')

Yes, Seiyu Corps. Which is owned by Walmart. Which is struggling in Japan.
Then there's Walmart, which is also in Japan. Which is also struggling.
Mostly because they're under fire from the Japanese media for cutting down on labor too much, opening the stores too much 24/7, selling goods that are too cheap, etc.

And that differs from how Americans criticize Wal-Mart...  How?  LOL!  Anyways, I looked it up and there is a place called Jusco, and there are the 100-yen shops.  I was asking because of another RP where some are in America and are in an American Wal-Mart for the first time.  If you have ever seen "The People of Wal-Mart," they could be in for an interesting time!

Could be, but do remember what the purpose of the Muses are.  Perhaps the one that dealt with science might find what Skuld build interesting and want to know more about it.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on May 18, 2014, 07:12:12 PM
that would work.  they might also want to look into the new friendship of Hild and the norns through her son.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on May 18, 2014, 07:19:04 PM
I'm not talking about Z.  I just meant that maybe they want to look into what Skuld and Jorg made, due to being into science.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on May 18, 2014, 07:29:24 PM
That's what I was suggesting.  What is about to happen is that Jorg is going to get chewed out by the almighty for her mucking about with the sea levels without permission, and part of her punishment is to dismantle what Skuld made, and that is when they could come into play, as well as she having to be limited to earth for a short time for her sticking her nose in where it did not belong...Jorg, that is.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

That should prove amusing.  He should seal her powers so she has to work harder.  she'll be like the norns, unable to use her full abilities and forced to live like a human...somewhat.

Interesting...  What does the machine do to people that an ordinary VR does not?  And, you could make it, maybe a DDR game?
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on May 24, 2014, 08:09:01 PM
Why DDR?  The Machine uses special runes to store and use Z's illusion powers to pull the conscious mind of the users into an illusionary world where they can play games like a First person shooter tournament or an RPG quest as if they were in the game.  Z was able to combine human science with magic, with help from his mom in exchange for favors and debts, to create it.

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on May 24, 2014, 09:35:35 PM
good point.

I'm thinking this for their personalities:

1.   Clio: a studious formal person.  like a university student or professor

2.   Euterpe: acts very formal and sophisticated, (like Kong from our rosario rp)

3.   Thalia: a lighthearted jokester who is more than a bit of a comedian, always with a smile and teasing in a friendly way to get a laugh.

4.   Melpomene: very pessimistic and rarely smiles.  always seems down and depressed.

5.   Terpsichore: happy and energetic verging on hyper.

6.   Erato: kind of a romantic and will gush over Keiichi and belldandy, along with the other couples (or triangles in ian's case)

7.   Polymnia: she would have her lyre and would be a calm and serene person, giving off a calming aura, but with a calm smile that is terrifying when pissed.  (look up retsu unohana's smile from bleach)

8.   Ourania: always sleepy during the day from stargazing.

9.   Calliope: formal and sort of the leader of the nine.

That actually works very well!  Now, think about how your machine might interest them, and see what we get.  Also, how much longer should we wait for Auir?  I mean, if this doesn't change, we might have to start our own thing again back at FF.

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

What I would need is viable villains, considering that those in Niflheim were later to be friends.  I also will have to have them married, and change the reason for the day trip for Skuld and Kei.  I would drop one chapter, or alter it to maybe allow Keiichi a trip to heaven for them to visit family and have their fling that way.  Other than that, things would remain the same.

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: paladin313 on June 23, 2014, 10:18:15 PM
I'd need the main villain with three helpers, although I have a chapter in there where miss absorb-all-the-light is involved.  I'd have to redo that.  I'd also have to have a reason for the villains to act.  Hrungnir just might help, if only to best her rival, Skuld.  I'd still have Hild try to turn Ian, because of the reasons of shares going out of balance.

Main Villian: Surtur
minion1 Garm
2 Hel
3 Fenrir ressurected.
they will lead an army of Frost and fire giants and dark and black elves.
Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on June 23, 2014, 10:54:17 PM
Sutur is a being of fire that would fight Odin during ragnarok.  Hel rules over hel, where some of the dead go.
The frost giants are obvious, the joutun, the fire giants are sutur's followers, and dark elves are the dark angels of Norse myths.  Forget the black elves.

Title: Re: Yggdrasil Coffee House
Post by: Trace Carter on June 24, 2014, 03:10:45 PM
Garm is hel's guard dog.  they might want to eliminate the possibility of another demigod so they wouldn't have any trouble bringing about Ragnarok.  also they could try to use the norns to get to Yggdrasil and corrupt it so the realms will fall.

Lets see, Z could be talking with hild about their family, and she could plant the idea in his head as an attempt to get urd to accept her demonic side and Z, being a bit naive, would ask urd that question, causing her powers to become a bit unstable due to her demonic and devine sides clashing for dominance.

How about, because Z is half human, it doesn't bring about what could happen to her if she acknowledge Hild as mom, however, because she can do this with him and not her, mom uses this as a tool to try to get her to make that acknowledgement, and stirs up what you said?

I want to bring Urd and Z together as family.  Maybe they could reveal that Tyr lied about what would happen to her?

I wasn't sure if it was Tyr that said anything about it.  Not sure of the full backstory of why she can't admit it.  All I know is that she claims, if she did, she would turn full demon.

I was thinking the higher ups lied to keep the balance of power tipped in their favor

Perhaps, but again, I am not sure it was her father that told her this.  I mean, I don't think that ever came up in the show or manga of exactly who told who what, (and I've read them all!)

Hey, American toons ain't so bad either, you know.  In fact, Star is a spoof on the Magical Girl trope.

RWBY?  Not sure what that is.  Anyway, you should look up Steven Universe online to get a synopsis of the series.  Ignore the fact that there are some who say it's an acceptance of LBGT characters, because they probably don't get the concept behind the Gems, (some of the main characters.)

I'll do that.  also, RWBY is a web series that is considered an american anime and is now being dubbed in japanese to air in japan.  it has short episodes (unless you watch it on netflix) but it is pretty awesome.

In the storyline, Ian and Skuld have grown close, and moreso because he introduced her to Ben & Jerry's, and the sundae they have called the Vermonster.

So, Ian has been finally given a proper welcome party, a beach scene created by Skuld and a proper clambake, Urd has just given Ian his egg and is now trying to get close to Ian as the other two sisters have, the temple is now neutral ground where demons and gods can meet without fear of retribution, that coming when one side decides to break that, and we discovered a way Urd can say Hild is her mother without sacrificing her position as a norn.  I'm looking to take this further as I seek to develop Ian's own magic specialty.

Z is also trying to get closer and build his relationship with Urd.  He's revealed that he had a Devil Familiar and is helping with the cooking at the cookout.  Also, Lind is there, and Z is scared of her due to seeing her files from the Angel Eater battle.

Hey, Z, been on DC lately.  THey've completely revamped the stats and how you gain powers.  It's radically different.  I'm going through my characters and re-tuning them.

basically, Surtr awakens and attempts to set ragnarok into motion, forcing Hild and Tyr to combine forces to fight off the fire demon's forces to prevent the end of days.  This would bring Urd closer with her mom's side of the family as the two forces fight together.  This could also bring about peace negotiations between heaven and hell.

Sounds cool.  And this could give Ian his first test, help his angel egg to develop, and he could be an interesting pawn that both sides could try to use.  Think about it: Hild would want to stop Ragnarok before it was time, but she would also try to gain anything out of it she could.
