The retreads of ova 1 should be read by any tenchi fan. It lets you see what elements were hers and what ideads of her were cut in the transition from ova 1 to 2. As for her canon its a mess is it fun? Yes. Is it great? No. Is it bad? No its just chaotic. Also it has a bunch if weirdness to it. For example episode 7 never happened. But washu still supposedly angel of mercied tenchi at one point off book. Sasami never meets mirei in this canon thats universes canon but according to her diary she did off book so she halucunates getting to play with her again in one big collective dead peopke come back hallucination chapter.

The girls in hassegawas canon are designer clothes obsesssssssssed. Ayeka spends a total of like 5000$ on corsets and a single dior dress over the course of only two novels.

There are ghosts and evil spirits constantly popping up to fight them as villians of the book. Kagato is one of em in her canon he was some kinda encarnated semi corporeal evil spirit and when tenchi blades him his epiphany on the nature of the tenchi swords power causes him to ascend to godhood when he "dies "which makes him benevolent somehow. So occassionally he shows up as a spirit to be freindly and not as not a villan.

Also tenchi traveled back in time to the day his mom died and begged her to let him save her but young tenchi saw him and tried to fight him with his powers and she got between them got hit n thats why she died in the first place. She used her power to seal tenchis power and make him a wet dishrag indecisive yes boy.

Over all the plot goes nowhere it resolves with aykea abandoning her royal status to be in a poly co parentship of tenchis baby mayuka instead of trying to make him chose her and jurai exclusively and tenchi resolving to tell everyone he wants to be with all of them.

Washu also gains an assistant butler for the family at a space truck stop who has a soul despite beung a robot because he was created at adam and eves robot butler and the writer injects lazy layman misundersterstanings of popular religeon into every dang facet of every book. She really loves jesus except when she really loves budha except when space chrishna or pele or some other goddess shows up. She fails to maintain any sort of real canonical integrity to her universe washu is a godess with a secret background mission to develope tenchi into the future hero of light untill she just isnt. 

All in all its a crazy ride.
