(I'm going to bed. I ate too much at dinner.)

"Well, whatever it is, I wish you well." Urd said.

[Trace Carter]

"I wish it was that simple" sighed Z

Keiichi was biding his time, drafting behind the lead two and trying to conserve his fuel.  If it went right, he could push it and stay out the whole race while everyone else had to pit.

[Trace Carter]

"So will he pit at all this race?" asked Z

[paladin313]

"He may not have to," said Chihiro, "Right now, he's trying to save fuel by drafting behind another car.  The other car cuts wind resistance, meaning the less fuel the engine has to burn to work.  If he does it right, he can stay out there, but he risks running out of gas if he does so and miscalculates."

[Trace Carter]

"What if the car he's drafting pulls into the pits?"

[paladin313]

Then we'll have to gauge it.  If it happens, we'll try to build as much of a lead as we can and then pit so not much ground is lost.  Remember: when you're in the pit, people can take your place if they stay out there.

[Trace Carter]

"I just wanted to understand more," said Z, "thank you."

[paladin313]

And on they thundered round the track.  When it was 3/4 over, some cars started ducking into the pit, and eventually, the two with Kei ducked in as well.  Bell shouted, "This is your chance.  They wasted fuel, now go for it!"

[Trace Carter]

Z watched with anticipation

[paladin313]

Kei tore off while the others ducked in for fuel and a couple of tires.  Kei floored it and began to get that "go" fever when one senses a win.

[Trace Carter]

"Looks like he's in the zone," said Z

[paladin313]

He had built about 2/3 of a lap on them as the others closed to take over the spots they left.

[Trace Carter]
