Here is the thread for anything Dual related. Honestly my second favorite Kajishima series after the OVA 1-3 series. Kazuki was a nice fresh air of good Harem MC when Harem was reaching its absolute LOW (I'm looking at you Love Hina). And I was a sucker for Mitsuki Rara, she just came and shitted on the other girls imo, luckily this was Harem, so they all would still get Kazuki.  ;D But my favorite episode was definitely the OVA special, Kazuki was so freaking close to nailing Mitsuki. You see her next to you butt naked, you ask no questions dammit.

But one reason I loved Sanada was because I felt she was one of the first who PERFECTED the Tsundere role. What I consider perfect is the perfect balance from Tsun to Dere, and the following Tsun being out of pure jealously. What I DON'T like is a girl being a bitch to the MC because of her own insecurities about showing her feelings. What I DO like is the girl being bitchy when she is OPEN about her feelings, and clearly jealous of the situation, thus getting pissed at MC. That's what I consider a perfect Tsundere.

One of my favorite show and probably the best mecha series I saw (on like 5 mecha series so that not hard being the best LOL). I like the harem, especially D and Sanada who should be an example about how wrote a tsundere.

I want see what happen when they are in space.  ;D

Same here!  How about we raise ~$50,000 to pay for the production of another OVA? :D

Personally not as good as Tenchi for me, but easily my second favorite Kajishima Production not directly involved with any Masaki's.

And still shits on 99% of harems today. And my baby mama Mitsuki Rara....

Yeah definitely not as good as Tenchi but I'm still enjoying it. It's also solidifying my theory that Universe is a parallel world to the canon world.

Alternative world would still be more accurate thou, due to the number of inconsistencies between titles. But yeah, even thou the manga, Universe, Tokyo & Sammy titles are not canon they could still be considered alternative worlds that take place within Kajishima's own multiverse. OVA3 actually opens up that possibility far more than Dual's parallel world thou. Remember when the 3 goddesses are talking about their experiments to discover the existence of a higher dimensional being? In there they sorta hint as the possibility that alternative worlds were simulations within their experiments, while other dimensions (like Z's) were part of a separate experiment.

Quote
A distant past, infinite layers of infinite time ago... With our omnipotence, we began existence from that instant. But we were troubled by a single contradiction.

The trauma of the existence of a being greater than ourselves. However, we are cognizant of the fact that we are omnipotent.

And that counters the idea of the existence of higher beings.

That's the contradiction?

Yes. In an effort to find the hole in our omnipotence, we spent infinite time conducting trial-and-error experiments.

Incidentally, these were thought experiments and not actual tests!

And so we continued to conduct infinitely more experiments over infinitely more time.

So we're all lab rats, our world is our maze & the goddesses are scientists in lab coats. :duck:

Okay, is the original world where Yotsuga comes from parallel to Tenchi's world or is the parallel Dual world, alternate to Tenchi's world?

All of Dual takes place on an alternative earth. IIRC the Zinv is the parallel world Kazuki, so by that logic the Zinv does not normally exist within Kazuki's world too. Also Seina discovered his Zinv on an alien planet and not earth, where it should otherwise rest if Dual took place within the same dimension. Something like that anyway. Dual does not have a lot of lore explaining exactly how it relates to Tenchi. And the one piece originally meant to act as a bridge got pushed back for so long, that the connection to Dual was completely dropped. That being Isekai/Geminar.

Gotcha. I'd love for an explanation one day to elaborate on the connections.

Adam made a observation that Kazuki's page on the Tenchi Wiki is fused with Asuza's father's bio. They should probably have their own pages.

Could either Empress of Jurai or Lighthawkwing take care of this when you have free time? Thanks!

  • I see you lookin.
If Love Hina is your example of bad harem anime then you are very lucky in your viewing choices.

Zinv most likely has the missing seed mentioned in GXP. The GXP novels seem to clarify the connection between Tenchi and Dual!. GXP the TV series would have but it got all fucked up by the director and other staff.

Shades, What makes you think Isekai was supposed to be a bridge explaining things? I don't remember that, but you seem pretty trustworthy.

Without a proper translation I really can't iron it down to a definitive connection, but the world D originally came from looks a lot like Geminar and at least one of Isekai's concept sketches feature a robot that looks exactly like the Zinv. That said, I seem to recall at least one person on AFC mentioning that two were connected as well.

Oh trust me I've seen worse. The absolute worst for me was Futakoi, the main lead was just a waste of semen, absolutely terrible.

I blame Love Hina since so many harems want to use its template: Guy who does nothing to deserve his harem while each of the girls follow a cliche template like genki girl, tsundere etc. As well as the stupid first girl always wins card. And at least ramna had backbone, starting with love Hina made it acceptable to have spineless saps who would just get abused by everyone, including his girls.
