A teammember said, "They race for 24 hours.  The one with the biggest lead in his class wins his class, and the one with the biggest lead over all wins the overall race."

(This is the race known as the 24 hours at Daytona.  It is the first race in something called Speed Week.  It starts with the Daytona 500 time trials, then it is the La Mans series of cars who will race races anywhere from 6 to 24 hours.  It is not laps as it is time: who can create the biggest lead within that time.  There are several classes of cars, each with about six cars: Prototype classes 1,2, and 3, GT Porsche, (where all the cars are Porsche,) and GTX, which is any make or model that the team thinks can win.  This is followed the day after by motorcycle races over the same course, then three days before the Daytona 500, there is the Daytona 175 mile races that help determine one's starting spot in the 500, combined with points scored in the time trials.  Both races are in the same day.  Finally, that Sunday, comes the one they've been waiting for: the Daytona 500.  It is in one of the two 175 mile races, and in the 500 in which Keiichi shall be racing.)

As it was normal, fatigue was setting in on other teams, and a horrendous crash occurred with one of the prototype cars, with the upper hull shattering to pieces, leaving only the roll cage and lower chassis intact, flipping several times.

Several of the pit crew ran over to check if things were alright. Meanwhile Skuld began to mutter a prayer in hopes of the driver's safety.
