Meanwhile Skuld was taking down notes about all of this.

That caught the captain's attention, and he said, "Um, why are you jotting all this down?" and then joked, "Planning to build your own cruise ship?"
Fear is ignorance expressed through panic.

"Maybe if I can get my hands on enough scrap metal." she replied without looking up.

Thunderous silence now filled the room, save for the sounds of the room.  It was not so much what she said, but how serious she sounded about it.
Fear is ignorance expressed through panic.

"... Hm? Did something happen?" she looked up, confused.

The Captain said, uneasy, "Ambitious little thing, aren't we?  Well, I guess it's okay to have big dreams."
Fear is ignorance expressed through panic.

"Big dreams? Something like this shouldn't be that difficult. It would take me 2-3 months at most." she replied.

Again, there was another awkward silence, and the Captain then joked, "I suppose you want to see the schematics, right?" thinking she would be lost on it.  Navigation was one thing; engineering physics was something else.
Fear is ignorance expressed through panic.

"Oh, that would be so much more helpful." she smiled.

He looked pale, not sure how to deal with this.  An engineer overhearing this laughed and pulled out the schematics for her, figuring she would be lost in them, saying, "Well, see if you can make this out."
Fear is ignorance expressed through panic.

"Hm... Can I take a picture of this?" she asked, holding up her cellphone.

Now this was crossing lines.  He then pulled them away, now fearing she was some kind of terrorist, and he was wondering if he should call security.
Fear is ignorance expressed through panic.

(So the terrorist paranoia reached Japan too?)

"W-wait, what's going on?!"
Denka! Kenshin-sama! Anata no kami no hogo o yokose!

(Hey, they've been hit by loonies before.  Remember the Temple Solaris Sarin attacks on Japanese subway trains?)

"Kid, who are you?" said the Captain sternly, "Asking details on the engines, wanting see plans, take pictures!  Very suspicious, young lady!"
Sentaro got it and whispered, "He thinks you're a terrorist!"
Fear is ignorance expressed through panic.

(Not that it made any significant impact on their laws and regulations. Many of the changes were custom tailored just for that specific group and no-one else.)

"Well you offered!" she protested.
